#146Watching the game? It is so typical New Jersey game. Easy first goal, hold defensively with a good performance from Brodeur followed by capitalize on bad penalty. Game over. Will be surprised if Philly manage to score two goals, can see game finish at 3 - 1 or so to new Jersey.Comment -

#158Sick under hold in the MTL game. I had under 7.5 in a 5 team total parlay and was worried that it would be cracked with 3 in the 3rd. A scoreless 3rd though very nice

#160Hopping on the Pens PL tomorrow @ +135. Tomorrow is the home opener and I think they will be welcomed with open arms and will play to a level beyond what we have seen so far this season. Also will be on the O1.5 [1st] when the line is up.Comment -

#161Hey fellas. Been lurking the forum here tonight. I was wondering if you could share what strategies you use when betting. Not so much picking teams.. I'm fairly confident in that department and have had some decent success in this young season. What I'm unfamiliar with is parlays vs straight bets. I have always stuck to small parlays. Typically 3 game parlays. ATS for football and SU for hockey. Tend to avoid o/u bets. And I use Bodog. I have a very small bankroll and this is basically just a fun little hobby for me, but I'd like to grow my skills and maybe make some actual coin. PuckIt, you seem to be pretty "seasoned".. Do you have any tips as far as parlays vs straight bets? I don't mind sharing a sample of the week I've had so far with NHL bets.

Totals in hockey can be hard, but it all depends on the situation. There are inconsistent teams when it comes to winning, but they might be consistent in a certain period, or consistent in scoring and allowing goals, etc. I would suggest you not limit yourself to only sides, but instead do your research, find your angle, and expose it appropriately.
For example, my angle tonight is clearly the Pens have been on fire this season so far. They have played two away games and have hit the O1.5 [1st] in both of them, putting up at least two of their own. Tonight is the home opener in Pittsburgh, and Pens fans have been waiting A LONG time to see their team play. The pens thrive off of a packed house and it is going to be just that tonight. I expect Crosby to step up his game tonight and be the all-star that everyone knows he is, and put up a multiple point game. They will come out hot, and should put up at least two goals in the first.Comment -

#164And for those that are wondering why its only -120, I realize that it's an obvious play and i'm sure everyone on this forum will be on it, which is typically a sign of impending doom (such as the OVER play for game 1 Pens / Flyers)
...the reason it's only -120 I assume is because Toronto hasn't put up or allowed many goals so far in the 1P. This is the only reason this isn't a 3-4u play, but I am confident enough that the Pens will be able to push through Toronto's early game defense.Comment -

#172Thanks for the response, PuckIt. I also put some down on the Penguins, but it is straight up (Moneyline?) so it's a relatively meager payout. It seems to be a rule that you can't disclose your actual wager so I'll just say I put 10 "units".That would net me 4.3 units from Bodog. (Told you I was small time!) That's the largest wager I've ever made on a straight bet. I'm debating a Blue Jackets upset in Phoenix. Coyotes have started slow and CBJ has been decent. Does anyone here actually make a living off this or is it all just gambling fun?

#173It's not a rule to not disclose actual dollar amounts, I just don't see the need. Typically a "unit" is 3-5% of your bank-roll...at least that's how I do it.Comment -
