Good night for you DG! I follow your thread silently. I am new to wagering on nhl and am betting very small for me just started the last 2 weeks, would you mind me getting your opinion from time to time? I don't tail people and definitlely wouldn't crowd someone elses thread with my own plays or opinions.

There seems to be openers that just simply confuse me nightly. The islanders last night for instance I just couldn't see NYR being -200 currently vs anyone currently but I passed because it just seemed there wasn't any money dropping the line like I'm seeing in alot ijn overvalued spots.I pay alot of attention to steam.

Same goes for the blues with the unders being juiced when they just seem lost defensively has scared me away from taking overs. I'm not new by any stretch to betting Ml's or dealing with juiced lines etc as I have bet MLB semi seriously the last 2 seasons.
Being a noob to NHL any advice would be appreciated either here or via PM.
Tonights openers that I lean but didnt bet NJ-115 vs Philly at home this NJ team impresses me and the coaching and goal tending seems to be a head and shoulders above all while I see Philly slow and simply lacking in the ability to score in games like these.
Pitt-Winni 5.5o -115 neither team wants to slow the puck down in the middle they both play wide open and have power play lines that can score seemingly at will. I have been burned with taking the pens on the road once earlier just 7 days ago and don;t like a side but either of these any insight would be great to know if I'm thinking the right way when when analyzing a possible play.

I honestly believe line movement is not that important in hockey especially compared to other major sports. I cap based on trends, "spots" and with my gut. The line can do whatever it wants it won't affect my bets

Bookies have the most trouble with hockey lines IMO. It's the least bet sport so don't talk yourself out of bets because the line moved against you. I'm pretty sure people have tracked line movement and RLM and the results really weren't that skewed in favor of the steam movement.

The bookies do seem to set lines according to the reputations of certain teams. Ie: The Blues as an under team, Pens as an over team etc. Don't over think things that's my main point of advice.

Thanks gigi. Yeah tough loss on the Flyers it looked like they had it in the bag in the 1st there. And LA suffocated CBJ all game long until the end where they got a lucky one. Tough breaks!
