quarter lines are pretty much game divided by 4, but with little more vig on the fav for the 1st q. i think there are some kind of systematic pattern you can make money betting quarters or live betting quarters.

one angle i found but did not test out because i don't have the data is that some teams has really good starters but really bad bench, so there will be big difference in scoring when starters play and bench play.

i am not sure how coaches allocate bench/starter in each quarter. i think some team might always play starters more in 1st and 4th quarter. so i you can make money by betting on quarters.

if you found out that weighted average of certain quarters is more than 5 pts, that is a huge advantage. it is like getting free 5 pts everytime you bet.

I looked for that a few years back in data, couldn't find it.

How I defined "really good bench" was one who did well in 2nd quarters for the first half of the year.

This did not prove to be the case during the second half, the data "normalized".

Certain quarters are more favorable towards favorites (primarily the first) and some for dogs (primarily the fourth), but the books skew the line to account for this.
