Opening vs Closing Line Win Expectancies
What line is closest to a 50/50 draw? Closing or Opening line?

Is it not as cut and dry as that? I know that the job of the linesmaker is to produce 50/50 action on a line, but that will never happen no matter what line they put out. Can you assume opening lines are the closest to 50/50?

How can you gauge an opening line for this? Before money has been bet?
Also there is many indications to suggest that the lines are not designed to get even action, but to entice the most money, maybe on a particular side.

Closing line is more accurate, thus more likely to draw closer to 50/50 action at that point. When the opening line differs significantly from the closing line, it's likely that one side is getting lopsided action early on.
