Action Reverses

What is the house edge on Action Reverses? I have a buddy who is getting killed by somebody playing these and I am trying to convince him that he has the best of it. Any math expert help would be greatly appreciated.

Break out the 4 possibilities. The bookie has a huge edge unless the player is playing correlated parlays.

The reverses definitely are not correlated. The guy is beating him with 2 team if win or push reverses in bases. I tried to tell him it is just a bad time right now with favorites winning at what seems like a 90% clip.

The math works like this:

On a 10 unit Action reverse @ -110 on both sides:

If the player goes 2-0, the P=40
If the player goes 1-1, the P=(-12)
If the player goes 0-2, the P=(-22)

So, E=(40*.25)+(-12*.5)+(-22*.25)
E=(10)+(-6)+(-5.5)
E=(-1.5)

Thus the EV is -1.5 on every 10 unit reverse


On a 10 unit Parlay @ -110 in both sides:

If the player goes 2-0, the P=26
If the player goes 1-1, the P=(-10)
If the player goes 0-2, the P=(-10)

So E=(26*.25)+(-10*.5)+(-10*.25)
E=(6.5)+(-5)+(-2.5)
E=(-1)

Thus the EV is -1 on every 10 unit parlay

On two 10 unit straight plays @ -110 on both sides:

If the player goes 2-0, the P=20
If the player goes 1-1, the P=(-1)
If the player goes 0-2, the P=(-22)

So E=(20*.25)+(-1*.5)+(-22*.25)
E=(5)+(-0.5)+(-5.5)
E=(-1)

Thus the EV is -1 on every two 10 unit straight bets


So, reverses are better for the books with a higher -EV
