Could anyone give me some advice?
I've been betting light baseball (right before football starts) and NFL/NCAA football the past two years. My first foray into online sportsbooks (Bodog) I promtly lost $300..... turned my last $100 deposit into 3k by the later parts of the season, ended up only cashing out $1100 after betting a lot to cover some relatively small losses.

Last year I turned a $100 deposit into 1k in a few weeks but then subsequently lost it all after a small loss, and eventually rash betting pattern, on Bodog Play by Play wagering.

I obviously have learned not to let losses get to me and then bet big trying to make up those losses. And I am obviously staying away from the fun but gimmicky live wagering stuff. What else should I be doing to prevent another yearly meltdown? What size bets should I be making relative to my bankroll? Any other advice for a still novice bettor?

The best way to get around a meltdown/tilting isnt a easy one. I have had it happen many times. All you can do is learn from your mistake, just like most things in life. Your gonna win some your gonna lose its part of how it works. The thing you need to understand is keeping everything in perspective. What someone like you needs, or atleast sounds like you need is a point/unit/dime system. Go to this website(below is the link), as much as I hate him read his Dime Management System(about half way down the page). It should at least help you get a grasp of what you should do. All I can say as far as the chasing remember there is always a tomorrow and always anthor game.

I always bet between 1-3% of my bankroll. 3% is only if I absolutely love a game or I am chasing a little bit. But if I lose that bet instead of jumping to 6% ... I do the exact oppposite and jump right back down to 1%. Believe me I know that this is a lot easier said than done! I've lived it. I am better for it now.

At all cost you have to stay disipline and oh yeah... stay away from the sportsbooks after a loss and a few brews!!!!!
