I've been betting light baseball (right before football starts) and NFL/NCAA football the past two years. My first foray into online sportsbooks (Bodog) I promtly lost $300..... turned my last $100 deposit into 3k by the later parts of the season, ended up only cashing out $1100 after betting a lot to cover some relatively small losses.
Last year I turned a $100 deposit into 1k in a few weeks but then subsequently lost it all after a small loss, and eventually rash betting pattern, on Bodog Play by Play wagering.
I obviously have learned not to let losses get to me and then bet big trying to make up those losses. And I am obviously staying away from the fun but gimmicky live wagering stuff. What else should I be doing to prevent another yearly meltdown? What size bets should I be making relative to my bankroll? Any other advice for a still novice bettor?
