best introduction to math-based betting

I have read through some of the threads here in the Think Tank and I'm impressed by the knowledge and mathematical sophistication of many of the posters. I'm fairly new to this, and I'm wondering what you consider the best introduction to math-based sports betting, whether a book or an article or a website or a video. The more opinions the better! I'm also interested as to what you'd recommend on a more advanced level. Thanks for any replies

Some good (and some not so-good) thinkers in the Tank for sure. The two introductory books you'll probably hear mentioned the most often are Stanford Wong's Sharp Sports Betting and King Yao's Weighing the Odds. But there's plenty to get started on here in the tank.

Justin7 has a book out, Conquering Risk. I haven't read it yet, but I think it'll be the best out there. Post some here, earn points, get it for free in the SBR gift shop.

The problem with those books is each example starts with "suppose the spread is 10 but you think it should be 8. Then to maximize your profits you should do x, y, z.".

King Yao's book is a good read but doesn't give much in the way of finding +EV plays, though the keen reader should clue in as to where to look. Wong's book is better in terms of how to find these +EV plays.

You really need a basic stats background to make money in this business (aside from things like bonus whoring or steam chasing)
