Opening number vs. Closing number

How much worse are you if you bet a game at a worse number than the opener but still beat the clising number?

For example the total on the Duke game is at 139 1/2, you bet it at 137 and the closing number is 135 for the game. Was your bet at 135 a good bet?

In general, unless you're betting them, or have some tick-based strategy, there's not much reason to concern yourself with "opening numbers".
