Go Sparty. I had to catch a flight out of Boise Thursday morning. The airport was packed with hundreds of Bozo State fans, none of whom was attractive, or appeared to be wearing more than $26 in clothing. Most look sillier in bright orange than 1973 linoleum blue, but it's a close call. Some old guy, who would no doubt have graduated back when BSU was still K-12, led the plane in Broncs cheers. It was 5:37am. The only group I can recall looking similarly demographically is the UL hoops fans I ran into in New Orleans once, though most of them were at least wearing $400 worth of QVC jewelry. BSU fans reminded me of the busloads of senior citizens who sometimes come into Pittsburgh from, say, Greensburg or East Liverpool, to watch a Jersey Boys matinee. Toss in about 25% in 30-ish frumpy couples, paint the whole mess (the ugliest shades of) blue and orange (you can imagine), and you’d have a pretty good snapshot. Oddly, there was one MSU guy on the plane (I guess he just lives in Boise, and was on his way back to Spartyland for the game as well). Not only was he easily the best-dressed person in the throng, I’m not really sure there was a close second – and it’s not like MSU leaps to mind when it comes to notions of sartorial acumen and fashion sense.
