You might be right. I just don't know if either side can stop the other. Nevada has the best running game in the country. SMU's passing game is 19th and Nevada's pass defense is 119th, which is either last or very close to it. Yeah, 72 is a lot of points, but if this game turns out 45-38, I don't think that'll surprise anyone.

First, Nevada is 6-3 ATS as a favorite (losses against Colorado State, Utah State and oddly enough, Hawaii) so let's keep the records straight and correct. We have SMU as 5-1-1 as dogs ATS. The SOS is out the window, with Nevada at 82 and SMU at 90. Nevada is 0-3 in their last 3 bowl games, and SMU has not been to a bowl game since receiving the Death Penalty years ago. Nevada lost two of it's major yardage makers. Basically that leaves them with a running QB and a lot of unknowns in the backfield. SMU's offense runs hot and cold, and their defense is basically a siv. There are way too many question marks in this game and way too many good wagering opportunities coming up. Pass.

Of SMU's 5 losses, 3 of them were by THREE points and the other two were to TCU and Houston. I see no reason whatsover why they should not at the very least hang within single-digits here.

Nevadas run game is good, but let's face it, it won't cover games for them single-handedly. That is reason enough to bet smu imo.

All you're asking is for each team to score at least 1 TD for each quarter... that right there is 56 points alone... 17 point away from a cover.. You figure that through 4 quarters.. each team will put up more then at least 1 TD a quarter... Maybe 17-14 or 14-14 in a quarter..

Nevada is a dog in the headlights tonight whithout 2/3 of their bread and butter ground game...that is the equiv of a 2000 yd rusher OUT... i'll be the one to say it

You guys are highly underestimating the 3rd and 4th string running backs...They are legit, would be starting/ or getting playing time in other programs. I'm hoping the line moves down even more, I'm loading up on Nevada.

The O-line is still there that was making those big holes for Taua and Lippincott while they got all the credit...Just plug in a few fresh and legit backs, you're going to see 100+ from both of them tonight. Look out for Mark and Ball tonight for Nevada

I'd been thinking Nevada, but after reading through this whole thread, I see some solid arguments for SMU, so going with the points. Hope you guys were right!

And I've been on the Under all along. Weird sh-t happens in these games, turnovers, penalties, etc., 72 is expecting a lot.

I agree with this guy. Mike Ball ran for 184 yards and 5 touchdowns against UNLV.

As for me, under due to the time given to plan for Nevada's explosiveness and uncertainty of their new running game. I feel like there will be a lot more testing and 3 and outs for Nevada, at least more than usual.

this thread has given lots to consider.

just looking at line movements... pinnacle at 69 (and dropping) while the spread is 10.5 (staying put)...

everything sounds like this game could easily go either way. and i don't care what anyone says but having your top 2 running backs out is going to cause a drop in productivity. 3rd stringers don't get the practice or game experience and it won't be surprising to see 2 or 3 mistakes that may not cause HUGE problems, but it's the difference between 1st downs and 3rd and longs. SMU seems to be the only intelligent play here.

and if anyone is playing nevada-10.5 and under you're probably going to lose one of these.

thinking smu won't score at least 28 is out of the question. so the minimum that nevada has to score is 39 which of course is an unlikely score... they'll most likely have at least 41 or 42 leading to a push or an over.
