They've also given up 23pts per game against stiffer competition than the 31.4 pts per game La. Monroe has given up.

is the juice equal on the spread and MLs? (to say, is one bet usually going to be better than the other or is the ML formulaically set by the spread)
why do you prefer putting one unit on each, isn't it better to take the "better"bet and put 2 units down?

You should be familiar with the conversions and shop around if possible. The ML does not always line up neatly with the spread, particularly across books.

I'm not putting one unit on each. I've got more units on ark st. +2.5 than I do ML but more than 1 unit on each. And the ML juice does not neccessarily coincide with a certain spread. It depends on how many people are taking the ML on a certain side

Generally speaking though the juice on a ML will be close to the same for spreads of the same amount I would say

My system calls for a 30 -30 tie. so it sees the teams as even, then factor in the level of competition Arkansas St has played, against the shitty competition ULM has played then the 2.5 looks like a gift. I think Arksansas St wins this by 10. Although bad weather is usually an equilizer that favors the lesser team. Also when a "mid-major" team plays a good game against a team like Iowa, but falls just short can go either way as well, do they leave Iowa feeling good or do they leave bummed that they couldn't get it done? I think they leave feeling good. I hope I am right.

Arkansas State also has the best defense in the conference, even after playing stiff competition. The offense is mediocre yards wise, but averages the 2nd most ppg behind ULM.

Rushing:

ULM has the best rushing offense in the conference 208.6 rushing yards per game
Arkansas State has the best rushing defense 106 Rushing yards allowed per game

Arkansas State is 3rd in rushing (in the conference) with 162.8 rushing yards per game
ULM rushing defense is 2nd behind Arkansas State's defense allowing 108 rushing yards per game

Passing:

ULM averages 210 passing yards per game
Arkansas State passing defense allows 152.8 per game

Arkansas State averages 180 yards per game
ULM allows 127

Turnover ratio for both teams is 0. But ULM has gained 10 turnovers which means they have turned the ball over 10 times. Arkansas State has gained 7 meaning they have allowed only 7.

So again when you factor in the competition level and the given that the numbers are pretty even, it becomes clear that Arkansas State is the best play. The only thing that makes this game uncomfortable is the weather. They are calling for 1-2 inches of rain. And like a dumbass I already took the over. I may need to hedge that.
