A few things.

1. It is a definitive sucker punch and a cowardly act.
2. He is lucky the Boise St players that were right there were not as barbaric and undisciplined and stupid as he was. He could have been badly hurt if mauled by a group of Boise players who defended their teammate who was assaulted by this coward.
3. If he plays another down for Oregon I will lose all respect for that program.
4. He may end up facing criminal charges for this.
5. The score is not indicative of the destruction that took place on the field tonight.

Oregon has no coach. They had like 4 times to put points on the board with a field goal and never took it. 4 field goals they would have won 20-19. When the guy saw Boise was not moving the ball he should have started to chip away. The coach went into panic mode and the team did also. Been in tons of fights, and very rarely do you have a good fight with a black guy. Always ends up being a sucker punch situation, a weapon pulled out, or every other brother in the state suddenly showing up and joining in.

It's criminal assault, plain and simple. The fact that the Boise player mouthed off and slapped Blount on the shoulder pad does not give him the right to retaliate with a punch to the face. Expect Blount to be brought up on charges.

That said, when you mouth off to and then slap a guy on the shoulder whose pissed off, you have to expect some type of reaction. Imagine if I was in a bar with a Duck fun after the game. Ducks play like crap and lose, then I whack him on the shoulder and yell that "Ducks suck" or something to that effect. What do you think is going to happen. I'm probably going to get decked. Everyone will say, well, there's a distinction here, it was on the field. Yeah, maybe, but there's even more adrenaline pumping for these guys after a loss like that.

Overall, Blount no doubt committed a criminal act for which he should be punished. However, in more of a 'real world' sense, the Boise player is not entirely innocent himself, but for his provocation, this would not have happened.
