#8Good thread, I was wondering the same thing.... I've never bet mma in vegas, but have thought about driving out there before when I had a bigger bank roll and was making larger plays, only 3 1/2 hours from where I'm at...
Anyone know what the average 'to win' limit on a SU bet is at say the mgm or wynne owned casinos??
My buddy played at mgm the other week and didn't bother to ask, but he said they set a limit on the number of plays on a single parlay... they wouldn't let him parlay more than 6 fighters on a single parlay card. I told him to ask what the win limit was he forgot to ask...
I wonder if you could show up with 10k or something large like that and just throw it down, no questions asked...Comment -

But, its still easy to get money down in vegas. If you bet the limit, they have the opportunity to move the line, but then you can make another limit bet until they decide you're too sharp. And if so, you just go next door and get the same line, or have your friend bet it.
Another major advantage to betting in vegas is if they take a bet they HAVE to honor it. If they release a line flipped and you bet it, they have to pay out no matter what. No cancellations.Comment -

#12Originally posted by NunyaBidnessOn major sports you can, not MMA. I've needed supervisor approval for 1k bets on MMA.

But yea I always figured if you really wanted to make a run in vegas, limits or not, there are still ways to win large money on mma... be like Mr. Walters or any other legit gambler that the casinos know as 'sharp' and have couriers or friends make additional plays for you and hit all the casinos at once!!!
Are you located in vegas???
Is anyone here located out in vegas???Comment -

#13Originally posted by MMAbetMASTAvery interesting... damn approval for just a grand, that's a little more 'tight' than I would have thought....

I've gotten larger bets than 1k down without approval as well, but it seems random at times. They probably ramp up the limits a bit as fights are going on, but I'm always up in my room betting movements online.Comment -

#14Originally posted by NunyaBidnessI don't live in vegas but I'm there several times a year. I know a guy who used to be a runner for Billy Walters, went broke betting his own money along with Billy's picks not realizing that Billy plays both sides.

#16Originally posted by MMAbetMASTAwow dude that's crazy!!! What did he get in return for running for Walters? i would assume nothing but the picks.... lol not to laugh at the guy, but man that's crazy he went broke following him and didn't realize its fuckin' billy walters who swings both sides of the lines to get what he wants.. Incredible.
Also, if you make a big sportsbook cash in vegas always ask to be paid in chips. If they give you cash they have to file a CTR which is a big pain in the ass.Comment -

#19Originally posted by NunyaBidnessYep, but there are a few upsides too. I have stacks of drink tickets to every casino I frequent, so then the wife doesn't bug me to pay $8 a drink at some bar.
Is it normal for you to get free drinks and / or comps for sportsbetting in casinos??? If so then yea that is a huge perk in my book as I can drop some serious cash on my drinking in vegas..Comment -

@Nunya does that mean that no matter how much $, if you ask for it in chips, no need for a CTR?Comment -

#21Originally posted by MMAbetMASTAThat's what I would think but my boy who was playing mma at mgm the other weekend said he wasn't getting offered any drinks... he took about 1.4k from them and I asked if they offered any comps for such a win and he said they didn't offer him anything...

I think a couple of the books will rate your play at the sportsbook (meaning, offer traditional comps), but if you're beating them longterm you don't really want to tell them who you are, so I would advise never showing your card there.
(The only books that won't give you tickets are the ones that just let you drink for free by sitting in the sportsbook. I believe Rio is one of them.)Comment -

#23Originally posted by NunyaBidnessEvery book will give you drink tickets if you ask when you place your bet. A normal bet of like 100-200 will usually get you 2. But I've had the teller hand me 15 or so for $1000+ bets. Ask when you place the bet not when you collect.

#24Well that's a shame, I'm always a little leery of the legality of online betting and was hoping Vegas was going to be my safe haven once I felt like I wanted to dedicate enough funds to it for it to be worth it...perhaps Canada is a better bet.Comment -

#28Cantor books hang lines on most of the card (with lots of juice). Wynn will hang lines on almost as many fights, but with lower juice.Comment
