Does cormier have the striking advantage?
The way I see this fight playing out is cormier being able to stuff 100% of the takedowns because he is simply the best wrestler currently competing in mma and I still believe this holds true even for "mma wrestling." I am a believer. I don't think cormier will want to take barnett down (even though he probably could) and I think that cormier has better boxing technique and faster speed than barnett. I think cormier will either outpoint barnett or knock him out on the feet, and that barnett will-not be able to take cormier down.

Does anyone agree with these sentiments?

Bingo. Cormier's speed and athleticism will prove the difference.

Josh is a pretty agile and athletic guy too, especially for his size.

Ultimately I agree with you fosho, my breakdown in the event thread was the exact same, but a lot of my buddies are taking barnette for various reasons, the most common being the experience factor which is something I have overlooked before. Initially I thought it would come down to a striking battle and that cormier had better technique and footwork, but after watching both old and new fights of joshs' his stand up really isn't that shabby either and he has very sound findamental technique... If you can call who wins the striking match with confidence, then that is the pick because I'd be very suprised if it hits the ground, only goes there if dan wants it to imo... Josh is tricky with trips but I've heard dan's base is ridiculous and he's a boulder and won't budge.. So yea I think dan has the striking edge but I can't say that with any sort of confidence. Prob gonna sit this one out unless dan becomes a bigger dog again which I don't see happening, I think they'll both linger at the current even odds... GL tomorrow on this one bruddah, its a tough one to call!

I couldn't agree more bro. This will be a stand up fighting and Cormier has the speed and power to beat Barnett.

I think it is too early to say for sure. All we have to go by is the Bigfoot KO. I mean Monson is a mummy.

I think he is quicker and has better combo's, but effectiveness? Who knows. If I had to guess, I would agree with the thought of Corimer being better simply because he is quicker to the punch.

Thanks man GL to you as well. I hope my analysis on this is better than my thoughts on zombie/poirer. I was way off on that one.

I think Cormier can dictate where this fight plays out. My only worry about this fight is if Cormier finally meets some resistance as the fight plays out. Every single fight Cormier has been in he's always been in the drivers seat. I mean even with against Big Foot it was all Cormier. If he can pull off the same lop sided performance against Barnett, Ill be thrilled. I do think Cormier is a safe bet in this one but its mma so anything can happen.

                  Nice MMA math noob

The only thing I see is that Barnett doesn't like getting ground and pounded he tends to quit when he gets hit over and over he turns around and quits. As for taking cormier down there are many ways to do that not just wrestling Barnett is a grappling beast once he gets a body grip on you I don't care who you are you're going down the thing is how many shots is he gonna be able to eat before he gets that grip. Cormier is a thick wide dude with great speed that's why I don't think Barnett is going to be able to get a body grip on him. I figure this will be Cormier's fight by decison

Hey i mean at the value you were getting that shalorus pick, how could you not at least make a small play. One of those small risk high reward deals. He ended up getting head kicked through the dome but eh, at least it wasn't a highway robbery decision.

Your logic is backwards for whether or not Kamal was justifiable at dog idds. A close decision would justify betting Shalorus at 2:1+ odds since the fight would've been a near coin flip. The fact he was absolutely starched on the feet and tapped on the ground is proof that Kamal was the wrong play there.

this fight feels like a total remake of nogueira vs velasquez.

pride veteran vs up and coming AKA fighter.

i'm hoping for the same result.

Barnett has only officially been KO'd once a long time ago and can take a lot of heat. Also, cormier may gas in the later rounds as defending takedowns all day can be draining. Who to pick, who to pick, ahhh.

Taking cormier but not at all confident about the pick. The odds makers are pretty accurate with the line on this one.

He's been KOed once but he's been officially TKOed twice. Rizzo & Cro Cop I. If you want to go unofficial then it's still two: Rizzo & Cro Cop III. He wilted to Cro Cop (granted he was in a war with Nogueira earlier that night).

IMO the books capped this fight terribly. They opened Josh as a 2:1 favourite (-190) and so more money has been coming in on Cormier that he's now a slight favourite.

                                I have a small-to-moderate play on Cormier at EVENs (2U + parlay).
