Maynard didn't attempt any takedowns in the 2nd or 3rd fight?

Don't you think if Maynard thought he had an advantage in wrestling he would have tired more? Don't you think he tried a few times in the 2nd and 3rd fights and said well this isn't going to work? Why would he deviate from his first fight? Is he that stupid? Does he have no trainers or corner men?

Hmmmm....heres a thought. Frankie got A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT BETTER since that first fight years ago. And he gets better every fight.

According to fight metric. And perhaps this is way off. I usually do and will watch the fights over. But admittedly I haven't watched those fights in a while.

But according to fight metric. Mayned landed 3 of 17 attempted TDs in the 2nd fight.

This page has a bunch of GIFs. After the first round it shows Edgar stuffing Mayand. Or getting taken down and getting right back up. Or attempting decent Guillotines. Or taking him down himself.

So I really have no flying focking clue what you are babbling about when you say Maynard didn't try to wrestle in the 2nd or 3rd fight. He did. He was mostly stuffed. Or taken down himself.

I watched the first 3 rounds of the 2nd fight a couple nights ago and I don't recall Maynard attempting a single takedown. He was gassed out by the 4th or 5th, so if he did, you can't really take those into consideration when praising Frankie's TDD. (though, I don't recall TD attempts in the 4th or 5th either, I need to watch those too, again, i guess...)

And everybody has been saying that Maynard would have won again if he had only decided to wrestle instead of box. You're the first person I've heard say that Frankie outwrestled Maynard lol

Maynard nearly put Frankie away with his stand-up in the first round of fights 2 and 3, so he was trying to keep it on the feet and KO Frankie... he wasn't trying to wrestle him, and certainly was not outwrestled... go watch the fights again

He was gassed. Great. I guess you could say Frankie wasn't half unconscious coming into the 2nd round too. I mean gassing a bit is so much worse than being on the brink of getting your lights put out. Swallowing blood and whatnot.

The excuses as to why Frankie isn't the real deal are endless. Perhaps he will never get credit.

We will see what the almighty Ben Henderson brings tomorrow.

Hey I'm just going by fight stats that are supposed to be accurate and actual Gifs of one of teh fights that says otherwise.

I suppose they could be lying to me.

Watching 3rd fight as I speak. 1st round. Frankie is teh first to drop for a takedown and Maynard would have went down...but grabbed the cage with BOTH hands.

Maynard wasn't even breathing hard on the stool in between the 1st and 2nd. Anyone saying he was gassed is being ridiculous. He was trying to save his energy.

Final verdict:

Is no in the 3rd fight they didn't wrestle much. But Frankie basically landed a TD in the 1st when they were fresh. Maynard grabbed the fence with both hands to avoid it.

In the 4th round Maynard attempted 2 legit TDs. Before he was rocked. And Frankie stuffed both.

Is this the tell all? No. But Maynard is a much better wrestler than Bendo. And Frankie has held his own the last 2 fights in that department after being almost out in the first round.

Maynard tried more TDs and failed in the 2nd fight. Perhaps Maynard has a "bad" gameplan. But don't you think he knew Frankie would be hard to get down or keep down? Why would he wrestle too much when he almost had a finish standing in both fights?

Fact is, Frankie held his own and actually took Maynard down. A much more decorated wrestler at Michigan State than Bendo's Juco credentials.

Bendo beat Bocek, Jim Miller (with a kidney infection), and Clay Guida in the UFC. I wouldn't exactly call that the class of the UFC LW division. Especially a less than 100% Jim Miller. Frankie has already beat Jim and Bocek. And would certainly handle Clay as well if they ever fought. He has been too busy beating the true elite of the LW class though.

Tough fight to call. I like them both for their own reasons. Smart bet here is no bet.
