Pacquiao's latest excuse not to fight floyd- "wont fight at mgm bc small"
(UNLV football stadium seats 40,000. why not there? dont need any construction at all!)

Pacquiao is dodging the fight and bob arum is making every excuse in the book. Now Pacquiao has found another excuse besides the refusal to take USADA olympic style testing and the "my minor cut takes over 6 months to heal" argument. Now his camp is saying they wont fight because they have a fantasy about wanting to build a temporary outdoor arena that seats more ppl. with more seating that "could" bring in an extra 20-30 million.

First off, isn't it a strange "coincidence" that no one ever heard this pathetic "Pacquiao wont fight without temporary stadium in streets" excuse until 2 days AFTER Mayweather called him out?

Where was this idea last month? where was this idea last year? where was this idea EVER? Why is this excuse randomly surfacing from pacquiao's camp now, TWO DAYS after Mayweather calls pacquiao out? Because pacquiao doesn't want to fight in May, and they are making whatever pathetic excuse they can to try to deflect the blame on floyd. At least this excuse is a bit more credible than the "6 months isnt enough time to recover from my small cut" excuse. On 2nd thought... no it isn't.

Third.... Floyd is contracted with MGM May 5th... and im not sure he would be able to cancel it with mgm without having to pay them a hefty some of money for breaching a contract and leaving them with substantial damages due to having an empty 17,000 seat arena, that was supposed to be full, on a holiday. Floyd pretty much HAS to fight on May 5th. He is under contractual obligation to fight May 5th. For Pacquiao to offer a later date in May is a dishonest offer to fight because they know its impossible.

Fourth... Really??? Outdoor Stadium in street they're gonna assemble by hand? REALLY???? YOU SH*TTIN ME????

We have a LEGITIMATE shot to make this fight happen, a date reserved at mgm on May 5th... It is 100% possible. just sign the papers and the fight will happen! You want to complicate it with a Bob-The-Builder "we demand a 40,000 seat outdoor venue on the streets" theory?!

Um... not even addressing why its nonsensical to try to complicate the world's most complicated fight even more...

Why not UNLV football stadium? Dont need any construction at all. Why need to build stadium on the street?

And what about the cost of building a 40,000 seat temporary outdoor stadium on the streets? You gonna build all that for free? you say it could bring in 30 million more... but with all the workers and capital required, i bet it would cost 10million to assemble a high quality 40,000 seat venue over a few months. So that leaves us at 20million extra revenue.

im probably overestimating the ppv buys, but with all the hype, i'd speculate that the fight could draw close to 2.7-3 million ppv buys... (using higher estimate) at 50/pop, 3million buys would generate 150 million. plus the mgm revenue 20 million with brings it to 170 million. That's not including ad revenue etc. So Pacquiao is refusing to fight because he needs the fight to bring 190 million instead of 170 million?

Assuming that its 20 million extra with the "Now Pacquiao wants to build an outdoor venue" theory... the extra 20 million will be split 10 to each fighter... after all the federal/state/local taxes, promotor cut, trainer cut, etc..... pacquiao would probably only be getting an extra 3 million from that.

So Pacquiao's going through all the hassle of wanting to build a temporary 40,000 seat stadium on the streets from scratch, and potentially ruin the fight... all for only an extra 3 million bucks?

... and that's only if Mayweather can get out of his may 5th date with mgm (unlikely).

So the fight could bring in close to 170 million dollars... and Pacquiao would rather complicate it, and risk never fighting because he's having a fit over building an outdoor venue for an extra 3 million bucks? Is 3 million dollars really worth all that hassle?

Is it me, or does an extra 3 million sound like chump-change and a sh*tty excuse to cancel one of the biggest fights of all time, a fight that Pacquiao time-and-time-again swore that he wanted.

What does this pathetic excuse say about Pacquiao's true intention to fight floyd? If he REALLY wanted to fight floyd, he'd fight May 5 at MGM. No hassles. No headaches.

He'd say, "I dont care about an extra 3 million. The purse is huge already. I want Mayweather, and I'm going to make this fight happen on May 5th."

    -but he isn't.

Time to stop blaming Floyd, fellas. Pacquiao has ample opportunity to fight May 5th. First it was the "i refuse USADA olympic style tests" argument. Then it was the "my minor cut takes over 6 months to heal" argument. Now its the "in a 170 million dollar fight... I wont fight bc i need to build a temporary outdoor venue for an extra 3 million!"

I think this settles the Floyd/Pacquiao argument. Floyd is ready to fight May 5, and Pacquiao's side is refusing.

Pacquiao doesnt make any decisions, I believe he wants to fight Floyd. Its Arum that doesnt want to make the fight happen cause he doesnt want to lose his cash cow

I believe that argument has a lot of truth to it.

I just thought the "6 months to heal from little cut" excuse was bad.

Now the excuse is "we wont fight unless we build an outdoor stadium on the streets of vegas"

        Give me a break.

Yeah I knew from the beginning it was team Pacquiao that was ducking Floyd and not the other way arround.

Mayweather has gotten undeserved flaming over the past 2 years.

I feel like a lot of the ppl that blamed floyd and sided with pacquiao... i think a lot of it had to do with the fact that they were loyal to pacquiao because he's a more likable character. floyd's in the strip clubs, very arrogant, etc. and manny's always soft spoken and humble. ppl eat that sh*t up... its almost like a good-guy, bad-guy type thing. so when there's a debate on who to blame... ppl instantly jump to blame "the bad guy". Why? not because he deserves the blame, but because they dont like him.

Anyway... i know there have been many threads regarding the pacquiao/mayweather situation here over the years. The reason i started another one... is because i know the pacquiao fans are gonna come on here and say, "WHAAAAT UR CRAZZZY FLOOYDD IS DUCKING MANNY BC FLOYD DOESNT WANT TO BUILD TEMPORARY 40,000 OUTDOOR STADIUM IN MIDDLE OF VEGAS STREET IN 3.5 MONTHS! MANNY DOESN'T HAVE TO CAVE TO MAYWEATHERS 'LETS FIGHT AT MGM' REQUESTS! AND IF A 40,000 SEAT OUTDOOR VENUE CAN'T BE CRAFTED IN 15 WEEKS, THAT'S FLOYDS FAULT ALSO!"

yada-yada. I wanted to address this issue at the exact moment it happened. So, in the future when all the pacquiao idiots try to blame Floyd for the fight never happening... they cant say "its floyd's fault they didnt fight in May 2012. I'll have already addressed it.

...but something tells me pacquiao supporters are still going to try to blame floyd for not fighting in may... even though the reason they aren't is bc pacquiao needs more than 6 months to recover from minor cut, and bc pacquiao crafted this idea for needing a 40,000 seat outdoor venue "coincidentally" 2 days after mayweather called him out.

dan rafael just made some tweets. It's funny because he has always been on pacquiao's side. Now he's finally seeing the light.

"If Arum so concerned about having 40k stadium built on strip, should try UNLV football stadium or LV Motorspeedway. No construction needed."

"Arum excuses: Needles, blood test timing, Cowboys Stadm, outdoor stadium on strip, Floyd legal issues, cut, Floyd license. Next? An eclipse?"

"How convenient of Arum to suggest a date for Pacquiao-Mayweather a few days after June 1, knowing Mayweather will be in jail."

I fukking 100% completely agree with you. This is a lame excuse and Pacquiao is dodging this like a little oyster because he know he'll lose. Mayweather wants nothing more but to be in jail knowing hes the Champ. Like you said, I've never heard of this "outdoor stadium" crap until AFTER Mayweather tweeted and called out Pac.

Arum is suck a greedy bastard. Win or lose this would be the biggest pay day of his life. The old fukk should take this one last pay day and go retire somewhere. The faster boxing rids its of this virus the better.

I feel Team Pac has been ducking this fight for a long time. I feel Manny does want the fight he just wanted it at the end of his career.

Boxing is a business. And they should be trying to provide for their family. Too many have died broke.

At the same time sometimes they get too greedy, and or want to be in control of everything.

Sometimes I wish they would just agree on the purse and then do a 70/30 or 60/40 split. Winner taking the larger amount. You want the big bucks? Win the fight.

And Arums cash cow is leaving anyway. Pac only will will be fighting 1-3 more times and will be retiring anyway. This fight could be the biggest ppv hit in boxing ever. And if the fight turns out to be an exciting fight there could be a chance for a rematch. Thats a huge amount of money for two fights. And why risk the chance of being part of one of the biggest fights in boxing history?

And I like Roach but the BS he is talking about Floyd is pissing me off. Just have Pac sign on the dotted line and get this all straightened out in the ring.

oh.. and i forgot... now arum says having 20,000 more seats will generate another $30-40 million in revenue. That's $2,000 a seat. most of the seats after the closest 20,000 are going to be cheap seats far out. $2,000 a ticket for a bleacher seat, 40,000 seats behind the center of the ring?

                              pure lunacy.
