Bodog.eu players moving to Bovada.lv

What happened to bodog??

There is a message on their home screen saying that they are closed and they have transferred all funds to www.bovada.lv Anybody have info on why? I logged in and sure enough the money is there in poker and on the sportsbook...

Bodog.eu is changing - New Name, New Look, Same Great Service

The Morris Mohawk Gaming Group's ("MMGG") brand licensing agreement with the Bodog Brand is expiring at the end of this year and as a result MMGG will no longer be offering its services using the bodog name or from the website, bodog.eu.

From today, December 14th, MMGG will continue to operate as it has for over 4 years, just under its new name, BOVADA, at www.bovada.lv.

I'm confused... Isn't Bodog closing US player accounts on Dec 31st? I have been drawing my account down to zero because I thought they were closing to US customers. Are they spinning off a site which will keep US players? What is going on?

What documentation can you refer me to that backs up your statement above. I have some funds with this book. Thanks for the help!

As IntheRed posted above, this change was announced months ago and we were told that the name change would be in effect by the beginning of 2012... the only thing unknown at that point was what the new name would turn out to be.

Same people are running the site as have been for several years now - they were merely paying Bodog for the right to use their name. That agreement has ended so now you have Bovada.

Logged into it this afternoon, seemed pretty slow but I am guessing since they made a big deal about moving that they got increased traffic + the usual BS that goes with hosting a new site.

I'm not saying I have any problem with it. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now. But still, there must have been some kind of motivation for going to the trouble of changing the name instead of keeping everything the way it's been. Statements like these just don't add up without some kind of additional factors involved:

Looks like SBR has cleared things up for everyone...the Bodog brand has decided to focus its growth in other regions outside of the US, especially after receiving a UK license. The MMGG has a vast amount of experience in the US market and wanted to continue to offer its customers the same trusted service, all be it under a new brand.

Essentially, MMGG is rebranding- that is it!

MMGG has owned and been running bodog.com/bodog.eu since late 2006 and the exact same company will be running the rebranded site...the only differences will be the URL, the brand name and how the site looks!
