Fightmetric (for what it's worth) had Patrick out-landing Ebersole in "significant strikes" 28 to 23 and had 3 sub attempts to zero. Ebersole had two passes. I believe the hometown decision is more a feature of boxing, where it's quite predictable. Like if a boxing match happens in Germany, and a foreigner knocks the German out, the German will still get the decision.
The problem with mma is that the judges don't seem to actually watch the fights, so the decisions are completely random. The only predictable thing about mma judging is that Asians will lose, e.g. Nam Pham, Fukuda, Omigawa.Comment -
