If Spang's tdd is anything like his brother's I think even a guy without much wrestling background like an athletic burrell can put him on his back for 2+ rounds, no? I was reading play by plays on both fighters' fights again Ray, and both seemed to have success taking him down, while spang seemed to get the better of the striking exchanges when compared to the time burrell spent on the feet againt Ray...

He seemd to have little trouble taking spang down... All I know is that legere is small for ww which concerns me considering burrell seems huge... If I knew legere had a wrestling background it would make me feel better taking spang, because he did have some success with stuffing his shots and kept an active guard / kept legere from doing any real damage... If legere isn't a legit wrestler / wrestling background then I def think burrelll can do the same if not cause more damage...
If I knew spang could keep it upright for 2+ rounds I'd put this fight at even odds, and therefore I'd love to hit spang as a dog, but I really can't say that he can keep it up with confidence...Comment -
Look at Burrell and Ray's fight for Strikeforce a lil while back....Burrell struggled mightily in the guard of Ray before Joe gassed out badly...I think Spang can threaten enough from his guard to make Nah-Shon a bit hesitant to play in there...and he has a much better gas tank than Ray.
I don't see any way that Spang isn't on his back at some point but Spang is much better on the ground then he showed in his last fightComment -

Unfortunately I'm against you on Barnett. Cormier for me. I've always found it hard to know where Barnett is at, because he has always had such a big gap between his fights over the years. I agree that stuffing the Cormier shot is Barnett's road to getting on top, but I'm not sure we see him shoot on Barnett. Whilst Barnett's boxing is underrated, I think Cormier has a clear edge there.Comment -

In a 3 round fight, Cormier is very dangerous. His boxing is very solid, and he can steal rounds with beautiful takedowns. not sure what you are saying pal...he threw some bombs that caught silva... and ill be honest, i got tired of watching how awful the fight against barnett was, but i dont even remember barnett making an attempt at a takedown...he might have at some point in time, but like i said, the fight was brutally bad to watch... cormeir has done nothing besides land some big haymakers in the 2 fights ive seen him...the other fights were against nobodies, so i dont even care to go back and watch... sure he has some skills, never said he didnt...but he had barnett on the ground a few times and was fukking clueless as to what to do and in fact almost got knee/ankle barred ...dont believe me, go back and watch again... good luck to him in the future, but its nowhere near as bright as the showtime jackoffs made it out to be... hopefully you can find some value in his next fights and hopefully we can all make some money somehowComment -
I guess we each have our own opinions. Personally I am blown away with how talented cormier is for how short he's been in the game. The progression curve has been crazy, and he has really impressed me. I also think he is extremely well rounded. GL to you.Comment -

I think Weedman is going to outwork Hawn over 3 rounds with a more diverse striking game..as long as he stays away from the clinch with Hawn I see him winning from the outside with quick combos and kicks...I'll say Brent Weedman wins via unanimous decision.

I didn't get to watch the Weedman/Hawn fight..I saw Brent lost a decision..anyone know if it was competitive early on?
Anyway on to UFC 146...I have a trio of plays today...with a possible 4th one that I am still debating.
My first play will be on Paul Sass...I absolutely love the way he chains submission attempts...he is gonna throw everything at Volkmann...flying triangles, sliding leg locks...I really think he is going to set a pace with these attempts that is gonna catch Volkmann of guard and eventually he will make a mistake....I'll say Paul Sass wins via Submission (Triangle-Choke).
Next on to a rare betting favorite for me..Jason Miller...This is it for Mayhem..this fight is basically his career on the line..he looked God awful against Bisping but this is gonna be a big step down and someone def more on Jason's level..breaks down like this in my opinion..Dollway has better wrestling(obv) and more powerful strikes..but his gas tank is terrible and has a tendency to leave his hands down after any combination..even tho Mayhem gassed badly in his last fight his cardio traditionally is not that bad..I like him to outlast CB on the feet and threaten enough on the ground to basically convincingly win this fight..I'll say Jason Miller wins via unanimous decision.
On to a heavyweight fight...this will be short and sweet..Herman is a really solid wrestler with a pretty varied striking attack and an overall better athlete then Nelson...I don't think Nelson takes him down and I really think Nelson's only winning this by brutal right hand...Dave Herman has just piss poor striking defense hence the line...I'll say he doesn't get caught tho...I'll say Dave Herman wins via unanimous decision.
GL all I'm actually really looking forward to this card..it's solid top to bottom.

His cardio isn't nearly as bad as it appeared in his fight vs Bisping....I think it was a combo of an adrenaline dump with the whole big UFC fight after TUF and the fact that Bisping can set an outstanding pace with his punches....I think a fight on an undercard with a guy who is much more on his level will work wonders for Mayhem.Originally posted by getlucky2win
