Lets get a few things straight, punches to the back of the head are necessarily illegal. Intentional punches to the back of the head are. When you or your opponent are falling or changing levels and a hit lands on the back of the head, refs let it go. Look at Lesnar vs Couture. The first punch landed on the back of Fedors head, the 2nd one hit the side.

2nd, you really must be blind if you dont see the Hendo uppercut. Watch his right arm right after he takes Fedors back.

I am normally one to protest an iffy stoppage, especially in a HUGE fight like this. Butit didn't look like a hit to the shoulder... I saw fedor's head fly up from a clean uppercut underneath the armpit. I saw fedor laying limp on his face for a sec before what looks like him waking up. HOWEVER, I did see two very clean punches to the back of the head that I think had a part in herb's decision making to stop the fight, when perhaps he should have stopped and warned hendo. All in all tho, I think hendo would have kept bombing on fedor's face had it continued. Like fedor, I would have liked to seen a couple more secs, even if that meant seeing fedor take more damage. I've seen worse, and while it sucks I don't think there is much debate in the end.

The stoppage was bad either way. He let it go when he was flat on his face and then stops it as Fedor starts to roll over....pretty stupid.

based on your own commentary,fedor was laying on his head on the canvas for 2 full seconds....nobody was changing levels...you can`t get any lower than ground level(unless you`re a fricking mole)....

Lets ignore the shots Fedor thru to the back of Hendos head (which are all visible in that Gif) Lets also ignore the fact that Hendo was dropping down onto Fedor after he dropped him ....

As for the shot that Hendo "didnt throw" ... its hard to ignore with this photo ...

i have no beef with the uppercut....clean and nasty......but to say that there was any dipping or moving going on prior to the TWO shots to the back of the head is silly... ...doesn`t matter that it was in the heat of battle...those are debilitating shots on a downed opponent......

we have guys in here arguing about a fence grab within the first two minutes of the fight and ignoring two absolute bombs squarely on the back of the head....

that`s what chafes my ass...not the stoppage...

go figure....

It really happens so fast when your in there. I dont think Hendo ment to punch him in the back of the head anymore then he ment to punch him in the back of the shoulders ... Hendo knocked him unconscious with the upper cut then went for the kill. The fight was over then. Fedor went flat on his face, thats why the ref stepped in. We have no idea what state Fedor was on when he rolled or what Hendo would have done if the ref didnt step in, but its not fair to say Hendo should have been DQ'd due to those two punches when Fedor landed 3 or 4 of his own moments before hand. Anytime there is money involved there is alot of bias opinions. If the results were reversed then people might have a completely different view. That deals with the punches and the fence grabbing.

To me it looked like Hendo had him stunned and was in a dominant position to drop bombs. Looked inevitable that Fedor would have been finished in the next couple of moments. Maybe the ref should have given him an opportunity based on his past comebacks, but he was right there and made the call. As for the "invisible punch", the only one who didn't see it was Fedor and you.
