Will Shogun Rua get revenge against Forrest Griffin?
Shogun lost to Mark Coleman on their first fight then won on a rematch.
Shogun lost to Lyoto Machida on their first fight then won on a rematch.

Will Shogun continue this trend against Forrest Griffin?

Shogun is still probably the worst grappler to ever hold a Zuffa belt. If it ain't broke, don't fade it.

Griffin has made improvements everywhere. He's bigger and used his size really well against Franklin. I'd like to see Shogun win this fight, but he has had some questionable performances and if Griffin comes in with a good game plan he can win. I'd rather lay close to +200 on Griffin than -200 on Shogun here.

Yes, arguably the best aspect of Shogun's game is his underrated jiu-jitsu. He effortlessly omoplata'd Arona and swept Machida instantly upon hitting the ground (people forget/don't know that Machida beat Rafael Lovato Jr. in a grappling match). To say that Shogun is the worst grappler to hold a Zuffa belt is idiotic.

Shogun's takedown defense is quite bad and if Forrest is smart and goes for takedowns, he has a good chance of winning.

Would love to see shogun win this fight, he'll be fighting on not such a long layoff this time which will definitely be a plus for him.

Don't cry, you can shave the borderline oldies like Pulver and slow your heart rate by noticing the qualitative "probably".

Besides the poor wrestling having a detrimental effect bigger then the sum of it's parts, an omoplata [sweep], a couple of scrambles on Machida, and a kneebar past the lethargic submission defense of Kevin Randleman does not a great case make. Shogun has done very well against other strikers, but he'll have serious, even overriding trouble against guys that Machida and even Chuck could sprawl on easily or that Anderson or Jacare could likely submit. Imagine Coleman giving any one of them the fits.

It's still an idiotic thing to say, as your original statement didn't exclude the likes of Pulver.

                              "Than", not "then".

                              "Its", not "it's".

When you're attempting to come across as intelligent, it helps to use correct grammar. Just some friendly advice.

an omoplata [sweep], a couple of scrambles on Machida, and a kneebar past the lethargic submission defense of Kevin Randleman does not a great case make.
Sweeping Machida and Arona doesn't make a great case for an excellent ground game? Gotcha.

With regard to the submission on Randleman: Randleman is clearly no jiu-jitsu whizz, but that kneebar was beautifully executed. Anyone who practices/understands jiu-jitsu can appreciate that.

I like Forrest in this fight again considering the price. His size gives a lot of LHW's problems and Shogun has never showed the best TDD. It's very obvious that Shogun will win if it stays on the feet so I'm almost positive Forrest works to get this to the ground early. I can never bet against Griffin unless he's fighting Silva, Bones, etc. The guy just seems to get it done when he's a dog so I feel much more comfortable laying $ on him given what we know vs the question marks that have surrounded Shogun lately.

i never cease to be amazed at how so many fans completely lose faith in a fighter coming off a loss or two....

rua was back to being one of the baddest men on the planet after whacking machida...then he loses to the best pfp fighter in the world(maybe the best fighter ever) in jones and all of a sudden he`s fodder for an extremely pedestrian forrest griffin?....the guy got k.o.`ed brutally by keith jardine...

griffin is nothing special...if anything,he`s regressing imo...he had a nice 2 fight run catching rua the first time around in a new organization fighting under new rules and basically beating jackson with kicks...........other than that and beating a blown up rich franklin(that`s a big deal at 205?) what`s all the hubbub?...

his chin is ??...i don`t like his stand-up(he barely beat bonnar and ortiz)....

what he`s best at is taking punishment and wearing guys down with his face...lol..i honestly believe all the wars(and griffin has taken a ton of punishment...his speech actually seems affected if you listen closely)have taken a serious toll on griffin....

yeah,he`s funny and well liked...but we`re gambling here....

i really think this is gonna be serious payback for rua..the better fighter...

im on forrest and its not that i think shogun is any worse after losing to jones, but that forrest just matches up very well against him. just as i didnt give shogun that much credit for beating machida...simply because shogun matches up well against him.

styles make fights, and i think forrest's fighting style is perfect for beating shogun.
