    Nik Lentz overturned no contest
I've never been involved in a bet where this happened before so I'm wondering if the books would refund a wager or correct a parlay now that the decision is no contest. Does anyone have an idea how they typically handle this kind of thing?

Books will go with the initial result.

The knee was bad... but I really hate that this went to a NC. The ref should have stepped in and stopped the fight to give Lentz time to recover and should have taken a point away from Oleivera. He most likely still would have dominated the 3rd round and won the fight. Seriously, who really wants to see a rematch between these guys?

The good part about betting is you don't have to worry about overturned decisions after the fact. What disturbs me though is what counts for betting is the official announcement by Bruce Buffer. So, if say Buffer goofed and called the wrong winner or decision, which has happened before in UFC history(Din Thomas-Matt Serra) and in cards not in the UFC, you could lose a bet over it.

I'm an anxious person by nature, so I do get the worry that the announced winner will be called wrong even when the fight is completely one sided and the decision is not in doubt. Like, I'm pretty sure, if Buffer called Cheick Kongo "Pat Barry" when announcing the winner, Kongo bets are a loss. Even though a few minutes later, it would be corrected officially.

Wonder how that would work if Buffer screwed up initially, but immediately corrected himself... I mean within seconds. That would be pretty crappy to lose a bet on that. I don't think all books operate the same either - for instance on those WWE events some books awarded the initial winner while others rewarded the winner after the match was restarted (eg. Cena vs. Miz). I got screwed there by 5dimes.

Yeah, it's something to think about.

You loving "The Master" Bader, aren''t ya? I'm like a 6 year old. I love calling him that. It doesn't hurt that I don't think much of his fighting

Olivera taking the high road on this ...

“He wasn’t knocked out by the knee,” Oliveira told Sherdog.com. “He got hit, but kept fighting, grabbed my legs, and only after the second knee landed did he let me climb on his back to submit him. The move was in the heat of the fight. I didn’t intend to use it to my advantage. I was winning the second round the same way I won the first. I’m confident the commission won’t declare it a no-contest. It was a mistake on the referee’s part. The result is in their hands, but, for now, I’m the winner, and I’m okay with that.”

Oliveira should really just own up to it.... would look much better on his part. That knee did rock Lentz and led up to the submission. Still... poor reffing led to this mess.

That knee was the biggest shot of the fight and lentz clearly went into survival mode after that.

Pretty hard to argue it was insignificant when the guy has a cut ring around his eye. All he has to do is say he can't see and it is a DQ.
