Several upsets in boxing this weekend
Anyone dumb () enough to cash on any of these?

*Jhonny Gonzalez upset Hasegwa in Japan. (only 2 to 1 favorite, but odds could have easily been higher)
*Marco Antonio Rubio upsets undefeated Middleweight prospect David Lemiuex (-1600) in his hometown.
*Dyah Davis upsets another undefeated 168 lb prospect, Marcus Johnson (-700)
*James Kirkland (saw -3750 earlier) loses by 1st Round TKO to Nobuhiro Ishida (upwards of +1500)

My condolences to anyone who played Kirkland or Lemiuex. I know you're out there.

You may be able to add Morales to that list in about 5 minutes!

Morales beating Maidana would have made this weekend something out of the twillight zone

Thought Morales was robbed 116-112 by 2 judges is ridiculous. Draw worst case scenario. I feel bad for El Terrible. He was robbed in the Diaz fight, now he comes back and fights Maidana and yet again is robbed.

Kirkland got rocked early and was really not able to recover after that. I cant believe Erik Morales lost that fight, Maidana was clearly gassed and could not do much after the 6th round.

Kirkland's only 26. He just needs to get his shit together outside of the ring and either reconcile with Ann Wolfe, or get a trainer that will teach him how to move his head.

2 or 3 tune up's in a month, fresh off of a 2 year prison sentence was ridiculous to begin with. They should have strictly focused on getting his weight cut down to a healthy 154 first; THEN started getting hyperactive with tune up's. 4 fights from March to November would have been just fine. Blame his handlers and Golden Boy for that one.

I still see potential once he works out his weight issue and ring rust. He would easily put on a good show against Cintron, PWilliams, Wolak, Angulo, Margarito, Vanes, and Cotto.

Here's the first part of Lemieux/Rubio. The links to parts 2 and 3 are on the sidebar on youtube.

Both the Kirkland and especially the Lemieux losses were tainted. Anber never should have thrown in the towel with only 15 seconds left in the round, especially after Lemieux had dominated the whole fight. Kirkland, even though he was losing badly, was the latest in a long line of boxers to be ****** over by Joe Cortez. He was getting up on a count of one when Cortez jumped on him and stopped the fight. Had both fighters been allowed to continue I think Lemieux would have still been a large favorite to win, and Kirkland would have at least had a puncher's chance.
