    Metrics based handicapping
I don't really see anyone using metrics to handicap fights the way it is used in other sports. This article on bloodyelbow.com is fairly intriguing, particularly the analysis by Terrence Chan in the comment thread.

I do i know for a fact reach matters in mma. As well as height but that comes along with the reach most of the time. I have jones over shogun and alot my reason for that is Jones reach 84.5 thats crazy long. Nice article i was also on torres in that banuelos fight for the same reason well that and i dont think much of banuelos Trust me reach matters.

Reach matters but the fighter needs to know how to use that reach to his advantage. For instance, take Struve's stand-up game, he has had a reach advantage over all of his opponents yet hasn't used it effectively as he doesnt use his jab or footwork. You could claim his reach helped in finishing Morecraft, but he actually knocked Morecraft down when he had his back against the cage with Morecraft less than 2 feet away from him!

Just always bet on the fighter with the longest reach, you win every time

In fact they should make divisions based on reach, not weight. Just such an unfair advantage
