    Alexandre "Cacareco" Ferreira +210
Well Team Alpha Male had such a great week, I decided to put a little cash on another 5'0 grappler

Yeah Cacareco is short, but I think he has a dream match up against the Janitor. Vlad lacks the stand up game to pick him apart from range, will not have the strength to bully Ferreira on the fence, and will find himself quickly submitted by the high level grappler if he takes Ferreira to the ground.

Vlad has looked very lackluster of late, I think he is in a bad spot to the much hungry fighter here. Its not that I'm just happy to send money down the hole because the bet has "value". I think this fight was made specifically to put Ferreira in the best light possible.

glad you posted this...made me look a little further....

i knew that matyushenko was an accomplished grappler....and that he`s never been subbed in his mma career...so looking at "cacareco`s" resume,i figured he had a very slim chance of subbing matyushenko....

while that may(or may not) be true,i watched some "cacareco" grappling matches on youtube, and while extremely short,he`s actually thicker than paulo filho....

i watched him grapple with werdum/filho(win and a draw..i thought he out-grappled filho).... and he was controlling the great robert drysdale until getting subbed...

so,maybe this is worth a small tickle at 2-1?... should be a really compelling match-up of high level grapplers.....

just wondering whether that double leg that ferreira uses time and again in his mma fights will work vs matushenko...cause his stand-up isn`t much(understandable given his height)...most of his fights have ended early and he has a loss due to "exhaustion"...so ,not sure how he fares in a long, hard fight...

for anyone lucky enough to be off on a friday, the weigh-ins start at 10 a.m. eastern time...

    g.l.....

Tough for me to answer that, Jones took him down with ease which raises some questions about the Janitor's Take down defense, but then again Jones is a beast. Its like questioning Fedor's sub defense because he was subbed by Werdum.

Matyushenko does look old and that quick demolition by Jones might of hurt him mentally as well! I could see him getting subbed but more likely to grind out a decision. Ive got a small play of 0.5 units on Mat by dec hedged with Alexandre by sub at +400.

Yeah. However it does have all the makings of a really slow paced ground war, and that will not be well received by the average fan. If Ferreira gets his usual 20 second submission then we will for sure get to see the replay. I don't blame them for putting this on the under card at all.

I think its time I got another book for MMA, it is taking forever for Bodog to list MMA props for this event.

I've noticed that, plus if I'm not mistaken you can throw props into your parlays as well.

                I will do that then.

                thanks

Just an FYI, Ferreira usually comes out guns a blazing trying to secure the TD and go for the sub. His cardio is pretty bad from the footage I saw and if he doesnt finish this one in the first round, I don't see him winning. As well, he doesn't have a win outside of the first round. He even has a TKO loss due to exhaustion lol. Couple that with the fact that Matyushenko has solid wrestling and hasn't been subbed, I think Ferreira is going to have a tough go. He could however get a quick sub, you never know.

                    TKO: exhaustion

He also apparently lost his first match due to eye gouging, hopefully we don't see any of that as well

Of course that TKO was close to ten years ago, and since that he has only gone to the second round once. Certainly is something to look at though, but I do have to add that the Janitor gassed fairly bad in the Marshall fight and its not exactly like that fight was a torrid pace. Actually could describe it as snail like.

Matyushenko has a great wrestling base and surely has great submission defense, but its not like that has been challenged often. Just a quick glance at his record doesn't really show much in terms of people who are that threatening on the ground. He did fight Arlovski, but was knocked out too soon to be put to any kind of a real test on the ground. Its not like he is some mythical beast that is invulnerable to submissions, all of these fighters are tapped out many times per week in training. Just hasn't happened to Vlad yet, who knows tomorrow could be the first. I do know this is the first time he has fought an ADCC quality grappler.

of course I could also see him barely squeezing out the two rounds and gassing hard in the first, and lots of clock watching in the third hoping that the Janitor doesn't have enough in him to TKO Feirra in the third. Best part about this bet is I wont have to sweat it out watching on the tv. I don't have to get that sick feeling in my stomach, watching as I know my bets about to go sour.
