Machida vs. Jon Jones?

Reading this thread it makes me cringe knowing a lot of you bet a few bills an event saying the shit you do.

Anyone who thinks Machida doesn't run a train on Jones is nuts. He positively smashed Rashad because he has a issue with his foot work, but Rashad is still faster, more seasoned, a better athlete, far less mistake prone and better all around than Jones is. Sure the guy has potential but he has a few years til he completely fills out (then it will get hard to make 205) and he is still very green as seen against Vera. Yeah, I said it. While for most of you that fight is an excuse to have psuedo-sexual fantasies about Jones, I see the arm he posted on in top position thats an easy armbar, and a host of other things along the same lines. Also, he's shown terrible gas in most of his fights.

I don't know why folks would be so into betting and try to convince themselves so much of their opinions on fighters and fights, and convince themselves their picks are gonna win INSTEAD of simply learning about the game and watching tape, doing research and actually figuring it out.

You are right. He is more seasoned. The mistake prone part is debatable at this point. and the quickness and athleticism part is laughable.

People compare JOnes athleticism and quickness to an anderson silva, that's how elite his quickness and athleticism are. There is no one with a clue who would compare Jones and Evans in those 2 areas. You are so far off that it can't even be put into words. It's comparable to saying Michael Bisping has more power then Rampage Jackson, or Forrest Griffin is more athletic then Anderson Silva. It's that dumb.

People are rating Jones' striking so high, but the last guy he KO'd clean was Moyses Gabin... who the hell is that? I'm a huge MMA nerd and even I haven't heard dude's first OR last name in my life.

Jones has some pretty takedowns, good athleticism, lots of length, and decent looking MT. What he doesn't have is any kind of cardio, not much power, he's strong but not explosive, and extremely green on the ground.

He would lose to any top 10 205er.

Jones really is faster and more explosive than Rashad. So fast in fact he could make Bonnar miss almost a third of the time in their fight. So fast that he couldn't make ex HW Jake O'Brien look like an ex HW. O'Briend showed more explosion too.

Jones isn't slow but he's not faster or more explosive than Rashad. He's stronger, and he's not that much slower or less explosive, he just isn't mature yet. When he has filled out more there's no way he makes 205 either.
