#7I'm so confused. Did they even mention which Soccer team Paul Briggs plays for? Or was this just a tryout for a Soccer team?

#15It's obvious Briggs took a dive, but I doubt the fight was fixed. If it was, I doubt Green would have called for the Aussie boxing commission to withhold Briggs' pay.Comment -

#22Sorry guys - I just started another thread about this without seeing this one first.
It has the article about it and Green's reaction. Huge story here. I'm just pissed I was napping with my son because I had 7 voicemails telling me to get on this damn prop when it was at +900 and starting to fall and instead I only had Green to win in a parlay.
Here's the thread I started with the article.

A BETTING plunge before Wednesday night's bout between Danny Green and Paul Briggs has helped spark an inquiry into whether it was a sham.
Briggs was knocked out in 29 seconds after a glancing blow to the head.
The West Australian Professional Combat Sports Commission said it would refer the matter to police if it found either fighter had thrown the IBO cruiserweight fight in Perth.
Bookies said there had been a rush of bets, some as high as $20,000, in the hours before the bout. Most of the cash came from the west and led to a dramatic betting plunge on a Green victory in the first round, with odds falling from about $8 to $1.50.
Betting agencies said the fight was "obviously dubious" and put in doubt whether they would offer bets on similar mismatched bouts in the future.
The commission also defended its decision to issue a permit for the fight, even though the NSW Combat Sports Authority had refused because of concerns over Briggs's health and his 3 1/2-year absence from the ring.
"The IBO-sanctioned fight was permitted to be conducted in Western Australia after medical reports confirmed Briggs was medically fit to fight and there was no quantifiable evidence to suggest the potential for a mismatch." the commission said.
Straight after the fight, a furious Green claimed Briggs had "dogged it".
But yesterday he said he had reviewed footage of the bout in slow motion and was convinced Briggs had been felled by a legitimate blow and a "brain stem kind of injury occurred".
Commission chairman Simon Watters said it did not seem the blow had landed. Under the Professional Combat Sports Act, fighters found to have taken part in a sham contest face the cancellation or suspension of their registration as a contestant.
Promoters or organisers face 12 months' jail and a $2000 fine.Comment -
