I've seen a lot of confusion across internet forums as to how Super Six tiebreakers will be handled and what fighters need to do to qualify for the semi-finals. Here's how it breaks down:
Tiebreakers are
1) Head to head result
2) Total KOs
3) Combined Scorecard Points
With that in mind, here are the final fights of the group stage and below that is what boxers need to do to qualify for the semis.
Dirrell vs. Ward
Froch vs. Abraham
Kessler vs. Green
Andre Ward: Ward is the only fighter to have clinched a spot in the semis.
Arthur Abraham: Abraham will advance with a win or draw against Carl Froch. If Abraham loses he can still advance if either Ward beats Dirrell or Green beats Kessler.
Carl Froch: Froch will advance with a win. If he draws Abraham he'll advance if Ward either beats or draws Dirrell. Froch can still advance with a draw if Dirrell beats Ward provided that Alan Green defeats Kessler by decision. If Froch loses he can advance if both Ward beats Dirrell and Kessler either beats or draws Green.
Andre Dirrell: Dirrell advances with a win over Andre Ward. With a draw Dirrell advances if Kessler either beats or draws Alan Green and Froch vs. Abraham is not a draw. If Dirrell draws and Froch and Abraham draw it will go to scorecard points unless Green defeats Kessler by decision, in which case Dirrell advances. If Dirrell loses he can advance only if Green defeats Kessler by decision and Dirrell ends up with more scorecard points than both Kessler and Green.
Mikkel Kessler: Kessler advances with a win over Alan Green. With a draw Kessler advances if either Ward wins or Abraham wins or draws. If Kessler draws, Froch beats Abraham, and Ward/Dirrell draw, it will go to scorecard points between Kessler and Dirrell. If Kessler loses and both Abraham and Ward win, Kessler still has a shot at advancing on scorecard points.
Alan Green: Green cannot advance with a loss or draw. With a KO win he'll advance provided that either Abraham or Ward win or draw their match. With a decision win combined with a loss from either Froch or Dirrell it will go to scorecards, but Green is unlikely to advance on scorecard points because he only fought two fights.
