I say that it's George St.Pierre---the man is not heavily muscled but has the strength of a bull(technique and submissions aside--his pure strength makes him the dominant person in a match)

I like Anderson Silva. Is he the best? I have no idea, but he gets my vote.

        Fedor hasn't faced ANYONE.

Dude struggled to beat Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira. I hope Fedor gets beat in 10 days vs. Fabricio Werdum...

        GSP gets my vote

man you are clueless buddy...fedor has beaten EVERYONE thats anyone in the hw class...he has beaten so many guys that were considered the best before fighting him...(nog was considered the best in the world when fedor destroyed him every round...he didnt struggle not one bit so i dont know what the hell you were watching) the hw's in pride were so much better than the ufc has ever had. lesnar is probably the best the ufc has seen in a while and he wouldnt last but minutes before getting subbed... theres really nobody that can beat him...sure, now age has caught up to him a bit and he could get caught by a lucky punch from someone, but paleeezzeee, theres nobody really close...

Boys...Jon Bones Jones in the light heavyweight division is a beast. He fights at peculiar angles much like Anderson Silva but his elbows should be illegal they are that devastating. Even his grappling game is excellent. You will see him at the top for many years to come. He's coming like a freight train boys.

Fedor, no contest. You win 31 fights in a row and you should get nearly everyone's vote. What's the 2nd longest winning streak in MMA right now? I think it's 12 with Anderson Silva. And he definitely deserves to be in the #2 spot but I think he could definitely be beat if he has an off night. If Chael Sonnen can make it to the 2nd round with him I think he has a 50% chance of beating him. #3rd GSP Very athletic and a very smart fighter. Longest winning streak, 7. And I still think he deserves to be #3. Winning 15 or more fights in a row in MMA is no joke. As for Jon Bones Jones as Swinging Johnson mentioned, he's probably my current favorite young fighter. He's incredibly mature for his age and not to mention he's got Greg Jackson in his corner. I'm not sure if there's a fighter out there that could even beat him right now but in a couple of years if he stays at his current learning curve he's going to be the next Anderson Silva in the UFC. My dark horse pound for pound pick is Jake Shields. I'd love to see him come to the UFC and beat both GSP and Anderson Silva. I wonder if he'd still get no respect after doing that?

He fights now once every 9 months and picks his opposition? He will go down as the greatest HW of all-time, but to say he is the current pound for pound best is just nostalgic and idiotic.

Technically I agree with this if we are talking about divisions and gender. No one can come close to hurting Santos.

If it comes down to males, Silva and St. Pierre are both dominating their respective divisions. I'd give it to one of them. Probably St. Pierre after the disgusting showing by Silva in his last fight.

without a doubt, pound for pound, the best fighter in the world is Anderson Silva.Hes undefeated in the ufc ans has cleaned out an entire division.Silva is unbeatable right now.I would have put Fedor #3, but after losing hes not in the discussion anymore.

Fedor is the best easily. He's lost twice, once to a cut, and once to a guy he let submit him. He's also not scared to fight guys bigger, stronger, faster or more athletic guys than him. This isn't the case for anyone else that people think is top pound for pound. Also he's willing to fight anywhere. GSP is scared to stand up with any decent striker, and Anderson Silva is scared to go down against anyone with a decent ground game. Fedor is an exciting and fearless fighter who will take the fight anywhere. Also Fedor has never turned down a fight. Anderson Silva tries to influence his next fights and GSP is scared to move up. I would easily take Fedor at the top and probably still put BJ Penn second. Penn is also a fearless exciting fighter, willing to take the fight wherever it goes. Until Fedor actually gets beat for real, he will be the best.

gsp has the best stand up technique. his hands are always up and his stance is perfect. fast, hard straight jabs. i can't say he's the pound for pound best because he could improve in his ground game. i think he's still a purple belt, maybe brown by now but not sure. but stand up, i'll give him the nod in that category, anderson silva a very close second.

Anderson Silva is clearly the best fighter on the planet.
