#11693THE BRADLEY SCOTT BLOG - EPISODE 1

My thoughts on my fight announcement and my first week at the MMA Lab
by Bradley Scott @Bradleyscott89
By now you all know that I am back.
This is the first instalment of my blog which will only be available on Kingdom MMA, I will talk you through my life as I train towards the big fight in Manchester on October 26th against Michael Kuiper. So keep reading over the coming weeks as I tell you about my life as a UFC fighter.
My opponent Michael Kuiper
The fight was officially announced on Thursday that I will be fighting in Manchester on October 26th against Michael Kuiper. I have been watching some videos of him and he looks a pretty good Dutch kick boxer, not up there with the likes of Andy Souwer but he is definitely skilled.
I imagine come fight night there will be a lot of punches thrown, I am certainly hoping to finish him I don't want to go the distance. I will be going in there to get the KO/ TKO obviously, the only way I will get a submission victory is if its handed to me on a plate. I'm talking if he grabs my arm and wraps it around his throat and squeezes it for me that's the only way it will be a submission victory. There is no ifs or buts it will be an exciting fight. Loads of punches thrown, loads of blood, claret and shit everywhere I'm just hoping its in my favour.
Training at The MMA Lab
For this fight I have decided to go to train in America, I have been training at The MMA Lab in Pheonix, Arizona. I came out to America at the start of last week and last Tuesday (13th August) I had my first training session. It is certainly an experience to say the least, this week has been my induction week and I am just trying to get used to it here. I'm getting starstruck just seeing current UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson and people like that walking around. Joe Riggs is my training partner and its quite an experience. All of these guys which I am used to seeing on TV thinking wow what a legend and here I am training in the same room as them.
Since I have arrived I have been working a lot on my ground game, doing a lot of wrestling at the minute as my striking is pretty good. So I am trying to learn as much as I can, there are so many great wrestlers here. The ground level is just insane here, everyone is a good wrestler.
Training with John Crouch
John Crouch is an awesome coach, he looks at all the nitty gritty details. He doesn't care he will make time for you, even if he doesn't have any time he will make the time available for you. Even though Benson's title fight is just over a week away I have been working loads with John. He even set a whole session around me just to help me learn a certain technique. It's really technical here, I like the set up and they only have one hard sparring session a week so you're not really hurting all the time but we do do a lot of sparring.
Benson Henderson
He is still training here everyday, he is an absolute penetrating monster. People don't understand how hard he trains and he certainly is better than everyone else here and you can see why. His dedication and his training ethics are amazing. He trains everyday and the other day he did 5x five minute rounds and he looked better in the fifth than he did in the first. The guy is a freak!! When I first saw him I was surprised how big he is, he is penetrating huge and absolutely shredded. I don't know how much weight he has to cut but I do know he will make weight he is a professional, everything he does is professional.
My initial thoughts on the biggest differences so far between a UK gym and the Lab
In the UK most of the gyms I train at I am normally one of the top five fighters at the gym but here I am probably like in the top twenty maybe and that I am getting to train with some top fighters which all forms a good experience.
My first session was an experience, they spar hard here. They only do small sessions like 3 x 5 minutes or 4 x 5 minute sessions and that's your whole day done but its hard. Its also very clever as we don't get hurt or pick up any silly injuries, everyone has got that experience of having a fight. Another big difference is that when you spar everyone else watches so you have about 50 or 60 guys watching you which makes it feel like a real fight, its hardcore.
When was the last time someone like Benson Henderson or Jamie Varner pulled out of a fight due to an injury.... The guys here know what they are doing. Speaking of Jamie Varner, he is awesome. He's massive as well, he's built like a pitbull!! Joe Riggs is obviously built like a tank as well, he's huge. I sparred with him yesterday. The guy is a beast, he's got a fractured orbital bone but he puts a head guard on and then throws down still.... The guys a penetrating freak!! He's fast as well and believe me he can bang. Like I said the guys a freak.
The quality of the food and stuff is better over here as well. I'm eating much better foods, there is a lot better variety of foods and I am getting better advice from people and advice of the other pro's here.
My weight
Another thing I have noticed is I have lost 10lbs since I have been here (10 days). I'm really struggling, I think a lot of it is to do with the amount of water I am drinking over here. I'm drinking about 8 litres a day due to me sweating so much from the two training sessions and I am having to have loads and loads of Gatorade and electrolytes just to keep me from cramping. So I am forcing myself to eat and am adding in high calorie foods such as nut butter and I am having fattier meats just so I can get the calories in and I am still losing loads of weight. I'm actually under 200lbs at the minute which for a middleweight is penetrate all. Just look at Joe Riggs he weighs 210lbs and he is a penetrating welterweight.
Everything is going right, making weight is not going to be a problem in fact I am trying to put weight on.
The British Invasion at the Lab
I've got two more English guys here as well, Andrew Fisher is here "Copper Bollocks" as I call him he's penetrating lovely. There is another guy too but he is a amateur. I was the first Brit here and then all of a sudden two days later two more turn up. We have invaded over here, we are taking over.Last edited by Vaughany; 10-21-13, 06:05 AM.Comment -

#11694Hey Mr. V,
Any thoughts on Jorge Masvidal/Khabilov in November? I'm a huge Jorge fan and don't know anything about this Russian other than he's pretty nasty. I thought Jorge did ok vs Melendez considering he had a broken hand...like to see him get off the undercards but he'll fight anyone and they give him some tough ones.Comment -

- I know I'm mentally tough, TUF opened up my eyes to wrestling, advanced BJJ and my striking was a bit slow
- I trained in US because that's where the best people are
- No point being in the best guy in the UK gym, you plateau or get worse like Leeroy Barnes
- I'm nervous and excited, finally have the fans cheering me
- I'm going to be nervous all the way up to the fight, and it will tighten me up, after the first round, I'll let my hands go
- I've been working on everything in the US, I have to work my ass off in every aspect
- I got to roll with Benson Henderson, MMALab are on another level
- Tristar was another option, I'm glad I didn't go there, but you don't get as much attention, it's hard to get 1on1 coaching
- But here, I've had lots of coaching with John Crouch
- It's mentally tough, the heat is unbearable
- Until TUF, I've never gone to decision
- Kuiper is going to be hacking my legs off, and he has decent hands as well, he's not the top level of dutch kickboxing but he's good
- He's def' better than me at grappling, so I'm going stay on top if I get a chance
- TUF was horrible, I've never do it again
- Our fight will be lots of punches, I'm not afraid of his little kicks or slaps, I'll be throwing bombs back
- Joe Riggs kicked my ass, he's a best, he's really good, he's def' a striker
- I'm confident now but 3 minutes before the fight I'm not, I could have had a desk job and made thousands
- Still a blue belt in BJJ
- John Crouch said I was average when I started and now I'm pretty good
- I lost so much weight in the States it was unreal, I'm underweight, I only have 15 pounds so it's a bit of a shock to the system
- I can eat what I want, I had a chocolate bar 10 mins ago
- I ate loads of sh*t in the States as well, I was drinking 8-10 liters a day, they turned off the aircon, they had sweat swamps it was disgusting
- I woke up this morning nervous, I really think he's going to try to take me down
- In terms of sponsorship I'd get more in Bamma, I get f*ck all in UFC, I have to win or I get no money
- I'm going to throw as many punches to his face as possible, I'm looking for a finishComment -

#11708Mayhem Miller is on another level right now!
Uriah Hall punches Meyhem miller at BAMMA event for calling him N word.
Breaking news is that Uriah Hall and Meyhem Miller got into a heated confrontation at a BAMMA event at commerce casino in LA. Several times Miller taunted Hall calling him a "Bitch as Ni**a" before Hall snapped and punched him. Both had to be seperated and Hall was last seen pacing around the outside of the Casino beside himself.
First reported by Cody Bollinger from TUF

Just helped break up a fight between Jason mayhem miller and @UriahHallMMA. Uriah you are a gentlemen, I am disgusted! #racist #words #hurt
https://www.facebook.com/TheClinchRe...21447891331799
While awaiting a photo op at Bamma USA, several celebrities and fighters began making there way into the cage for photos. At some point, Uriah Hall and Jason Mayhem Miller began a heated confrontation. I was literally right next to Hall. By now a bunch of fans had surrounded, and the commission, MMA Interviews Spencer Lazara, a few security guards and myself began creating distance between the two. When more guard arrived, Mayhem leaned in and called Uriah a "Bitch as N^GGA!" at least 6 times. Each one more venomous, each one more taunting, and flinching at Uriah with his head. After the sixth racist line, Uriah who can easily say Miller was acting aggressive and belligerent, responded to one of Millers movements with a glance Right hand, that did make contact! Uriah was beside himself. He had every right to be angry. I really Hope the UFC doesn't suspend Uriah Hall, he was put into a corner by a complete lunatic, one that I can say I was a huge fan of, but not anymore. Jason Mayhem Miller has decided to remain relevant by hating on those who actually are! Very disappointing. I am actually filled with mixed emotions, because again Mayhem is obviously at rock bottom. In fact, he is just Jason Miller, his rascal-like Mayhem, is long gone. In its place, all that is left is a bitter, ex jock, who is burining every bridge he comes across. He will not be allowed back at Bamma USA. And this comes straight from the top!

#11711Got about 450 on Cole Miller @ -181 and 65 on Craig by decision +215 so far for tonight.
Thor wasnt wrong when he said Cole might as well retire if he can't beat Andy Ogle! I truly believe that, Ogle isnt a can, but he is the lowest level possible in UFC, and with Cole's experience and grappling ability he really should be beating Ogle quite comfortably.Comment -

#11715Cole Miller on McGoober..
After taking a decision win over Andy Ogle on Saturday night, Cole Miller grabbed headlines when he used his post-fight speech to go after “European fighters” and their alleged inability to challenge him.
Miller name-checked Ross Pearson, one of the European fighters he has beaten, but his real target was ‘Colin McGoober’ - the Irish featherweight Conor McGregor.
Fighters Only caught up with Miller at his hotel post-fight to get some further clarification on the beef with McGregor. Over a well-earned pint of Guinness - ironically, brewed in McGregor’s home city of Dublin - Miller explained why the Irishman is in his sights.
“I am not trying to say he is a bad fighter or anything like that, I’m just saying that he can’t walk into the UFC, win a decision over a 21-year-old kid like Max Holloway and then talk shit about MY team mates, American Top Team guys like Nik Lentz and Dustin Poirier,” he said, referring to an infamous recent Twitter post of McGregor’s.
“Those guys are top ten guys. I’m not gonna sit back and let somebody do that. You’ve got a decision win over a 21-year-old kid. I’ve got nine wins in the UFC, fifteen fights. I’m tested. You don’t deserve to just walk past everybody and go to the top of the line. I think that’s disgusting.
“I’m American Top Team, you don’t want to just be talking smack about Top Team guys. Those are my team mates, Dustin Poirier and Nik Lentz, where do you get off thinking you’re on that level? Talking about how great he is - you didn’t finish a 21-year-old with eight MMA fights. Get out of here dude.
“So I am just trying to jump in there and say to the guy look, you might be all that but you gotta prove it. I’m right here, come and prove it to me.”
Miller isn’t slow; he understands that the UFC is getting behind McGregor in a big way because he is so marketable in so many aspects. But he clearly resents the high-profile favorable treatment that McGregor has been receiving.
Just two fights into his UFC career McGregor - who has stopped Marcus Brimage and decisioned Max Holloway after suffering a torn ACL mid-fight - has been elevated to the MMA stratosphere occupied by the likes of Ronda Rousey and Michael Bisping.
“The UFC is trying to buy a country, get all these fans in Ireland and they’ve got a good fighter in Conor McGregor, everybody is behind him so they’ve turned him into a show-pony. You see him everywhere, they fly him out to every event, you see him there looking all GQ,” says Miller.
“I mean I don’t think he’s a bad fighter or anything, I just need to see a little bit more from him so, you know, come through me. I just think you don’t deserve to be fighting a top ten guy after not finishing a 21-year-old kid.”
Speaking of finishes, Miller says he is confident he would be able to put McGregor away inside the distance. McGregor has two career losses, both from early in his career, but he has never been stopped or put down by strikes.
“You know what I’m after next - Conor McGregor,” Miller says. “I’m confident of stopping everybody. I’ve got a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I’ve sat three guys down in the cage with punches or kicks, I’ve got three Submission of the Nights. I’ve got a Knockout of the Night.
“I am confident that I have the finishing abilities and skills that, any given point of the fight, I can end it. I’m healthy, I don’t have any injuries, I’m here to work. Keep me busy.”
Miller’s reference to “Europeans” got him booed out of the Octagon after the fight. Was he deliberately trying to insult the audience in attendance. “Some of my favorite fighters are European - Paul Kelly, Michael Bisping is a good fighter. And Terry Etim is one of my favorite guys to watch. I have nothing against European fighters I was just saying that Ross Pearson couldn’t do it.
“Its just me saying ‘hey these guys couldn’t do it, where’s the European fighter that can?’ Its not Conor McGregor,” says Miller.
