Chael Sonnen has become so unbearably arrogant and indulgent with all of his interviews and blog rants etc. that my indifference towards Silva after this recent lackluster stretch of fights has completely gone away. I am now 1000% back on the Silva bandwagon and I can only HOPE that Silva's training with Steven Seagal is for the sole purpose of embarrassing Sonnen as much as possible. I want to see Silva come out and knock Sonnen to the canvas with a pressure point "neck chop" and then finish him with a wrist lock while simply holding his arm in a good old fashion "chicken wing." Sonnen may be the single most irritating fighter on earth.

If Sonnen had good submission defense this would probably be an easy win for him. I agree with 36 here though, Sonnen still has a shot at winning with his takedowns. Silva has shown in the past that his takedown defense isn't that great.

the value is with Sonnen. If he's smart he's been working submission defense 80% of his training. Silva will not be able to stay off his back against as good a wrestler as Sonnen. And Sonnen's cardio will be superior. If this fight ends in the first round obviously Silva will be the winner. But if Sonnen emerges from the first round, I think he has a great shot.

I want Sonnen to win but I'm not so sure he will be able to take Silva down at will. Henderson did well the first round with a take down and control but then got rocked in the second. If Henderson can only manage a round and a half, I don't think Sonnen will be able to handle much more.

I dont see how theres any value in chael.For him to win this fight hes gonna have to take Anderson down and keep him there for 5 rounds.Plus Anderson has good takedown defense and is a black belt in bjj.

When was the last time he's fought someone with good takedown skills? He's been taken down several times by opponents that have decent takedowns. The problem is his submissions. Realistically the last time he's fought anyone that could take him down was Dan Henderson and Henderson took him down. Damian Maia tried, but he doesn't have good takedowns. Anderson has had about 5 of his last 5 fights gift wrapped. Fights tailor made for him. Sonnen isn't really a great opponent for him because of his lack of submission defense, but wrestling is a counter to Silva.
