more confident in their abilities: fighters or poker players?
i just had this though. these 2 groups are the most cocky overconfident people ever. all fighters thinkg they are the best and all poker players think they are better than they are.

imo, i think fighters are more overconfident. take a guy like nick diaz who thinks he can beat gsp. the thing about that is, he feels this way even though he knows he wont be able to stuff a takedown or submit him on his back.

this is just and example but both parties annoy me with their overconfidence

Poker players I think are more overconfident in their abilities. Poker is a lot easier to understand where you stand, based on what you're making and who you're playing against. For a fighter not to be overconfident would be very hard. How can you fight, knowing that you don't have potential to one day be the best? All fighters think that if they put in the work and get the right training, they can be the best. It's far more likely for a fighter with proper training and hard work to get to the top, than some random poker player. Many poker players are content with play lower limits and earning steady income. It's very hard for a fighter to go in a fight thinking they cant win. Yes, fighters are overconfident, but going in fights without confidence is a disaster. A poker players overconfidence makes them a loser because they play where they shouldn't play. For a fighter it's pretty much mandatory. Many fights have been decided before they have actually happened because of fear. Confidence in poker isn't necessary, since where you play, and how you play should be based on numbers you have gathered and how you've done in those games in the past. Fighting is the opposite, most of the time the numbers are done for you and you go in a fight because of you're ranking, making confidence necessary. In poker over 90% of the players are long term losers based on overconfidence. In fighting overconfidence usually means better fights and bigger paychecks. (win or lose)

Has to be poker players. Your average poker player thinks he makes the right play 98% of the time and is beaten by luck. A fighter is usually more of a man and can accept when someone is just plain better then them and are often willing to give credit when credit is due.
