That display with him and Hopkins was nothing more than a old-man Freak Show...and boxing needs to stop making matches like this. Boxing has enough creditability issues already, and this fight did nothing to help that perception.

It's getting kind of embarrassing now.

he wont. the problem with athletes is they dont realize that sometimes they have to listen to their body. not their brain. they are so used to being at top form they will always think they still have it. my guess is he does one more fight. if he wins, then he tries again.

The only time "boxing makes" a fight, is a mandatory title defense. Even then, fighters/promoters can just run and take a fight they want.

Boxing's credibility issues rely more on the lack of megafights between superstars for casual fans to buy into. Those particular fans also tend to favor a great Heavyweight, yet the allure is mostly in the Lightweight-Welterweight ranks. Something they won't accept. The sport is perfectly fine for its real fans. There is great competition and depth amongst most divisions south of 175. It's just ignored.

If Roy would have retired in 2000 I would have voted him the Best Pound for Pound fighter of all time. Now he's like the Smokin' Hot Girl in High School or College and you run in to her 10 years later and now she's below average. It's a huge disappointment that is hard to accept. I still vote Roy the best pound for pound fighter of the 90's.
