UFC 109 - Randy Couture / Mark Coleman
    Pick# 1506 Randy Couture - 450
    Pick# 1507 Mark Coleman + 300

This should be an easy one for MMA Fans. Though seasoned, Randy Couture has both the stand up and of course the total ground game. As a derivative of wrestling back ground, the only opponent to take advantage of the " Ground & Pound " offense is Brock Lesner. Not too shabby thru a 10 + years as a professional fighter. I don't foresee "The Natural" letting up his strong Guard defense to Coleman's shoot take down. Once on the ground, the mechanics of his ground offense is somewhat astonishing. 75% of Randy's victories come from ground submission or ground & pound KO's.

Mark Colemen is a has been from the early days of Pride FC. The " Hammer " has a proven record against strong opposition to lose flat out with absolutely no chance of winning. Another fighter with wrestling as his base, a ground submission is highly unlikely the outcome of victory for Colemen. Furthermore, stand up striking is another weakness he's never worked on thoroughly. I don't ever recall Mark recording a stand up Knock Out thru Pride or UFC. He goes right for the shoot, obtains excellent side mound, however doesn't seem to have the submission skills to become a major threat to victory. Last point to address, Cardio. After viewing some old footage of Pride & UFC, Coleman has the tendency to Gas Out thru 2 rounds. This element takes its toll and ultimately drives him to his down fall.

Unfortunately laying odds at 450 to win 100 is ideally a great bet. If your looking for a sure shot bet in MMA tonight, look no further. I welcome all questions or comments of my assessment.

I think you're right. Another bet worth considering is Couture by Decision at around -115.

I actually think Couture might be able to finish this fight because of Coleman's cardio.

        My thoughts exactly.

I see Coleman gassing in the 2nd or third and getting a tko.

Couture looked really bad in his last fight. This is UFC's worst PPV card in a while. I won't be buying this one.

I think this fight is closer than most. I dont see Couture finishing Coleman. As bad as Coleman looked against Rua when he gassed, Rua could not put him out. While it was hard to complain about the stoppage, Coleman wanted to continue. I dont think Couture is going to finish him. I feel like the year + lay off really took alot of steam out of Randy and age is catching up with him. He has been dropped in his past 3 fights. I dont expect Coleman to knock him out, but i honestly would not be shocked if he hurt Randy on the feet if he catches his jaw/temple.

I see this fight going the distance. Coleman has never had a great tank, but i believe he wants this fight more than anything. I think he feels slighted that he missed out on the MMA explosion and all his eggs are in this basket to make a lasting impression on the new age MMA fan. I think he is going to dig deep and bring it balls to the wall for 15 minutes and i think we see a close decision that could go Coleman's way.

It's one thing getting dropped by Vera though, quite another getting dropped by Coleman. Coleman's standup is pretty awful.

Turns out my suggestion of Couture by des, was underestimating Coutures dominance quite a bit...

I do envy Coleman for steppin up to the plate and fighting, unfortunately this is a near ending career bout considering the results.
