His chance at a statement fight came against Colture, who was ripe for the taking. People talk about the lack of big wins for Jon Jones, but when was Vera's last impressive win against a quality opponent? I don't see an impressive win on his resume since 2006 when he beat Frank Mir. I'm sure he will be very good in strikeforce after Jones beats him soundly.

Question is if these athletic moves always translate into efficiency... I'm not so sure.

Is Jones really a better kickboxer than Vera? He will need to be, as I doubt he can take him down...

Brandon Vera is a ****ing joke.At one time I thought he could fight, until I relized "the truth" is all hype. Vera will never be a top ten fighter, he has no heart or killer instinct.If he cant beat fighters the caliber of kieth jardine and an old washed up Couture he is no chance at beating Jon Jones. Bones Jones is gonna pound da **** outta vera!!

Right, but at the time, people were saying Vera "had" to win that Cotoure fight. Maybe Couture did hug his way to victory, the decision can be disputed. Brandon should have finished the fight though, he had to have known he wasn't going to take a close decision from Randy. That's like beating Forrest Griffin in a close decision. It doesn't seem to happen.
