WBC Title Fight to be Held in Prison

The womens WBC light-flyweight title fight between 'Samson' Sor Siriporn (Thailand) and Ayaka Miyano (japan) on April 3 is to be held in the notorious Bankok Hilton prison.

Siriporn is serving time for a drugs offence. She has already been in prison for 7 years, but has a big incentive to win the world title.
Success would almost certainly bring about her release on parole.
The 24yr old said " When I heard I have a chance of freedom it made me even more determined to win this fight"

Siriporn took up boxing while in prison only 17 months ago.
She has had 9 fights winning 7 (2 k.o.'s) and losing 2.
One of those was a world title at strawweight (lowest weight) where she lost to the reigning champion,last year.

She has gone up a weight for this light-flyweight contest.
The title is currently vacant.
I dont know much about her opponent. Will try and find something out.

Ayaka Miyano was born in same year as Siriporn, 1983, and has had 7 fights, winning 4 losing 2 with 1 draw.

All her fights up to now have been in Japan and were unsanctioned-meaning they were not regulated by the governing boxing authority.

Siriporn is ranked higher in the world ratings and will have a 3 inch height advantage.
