You can't train as much and need more recovery time, you get injured more frequently and don't heal as fast, etc.. etc.. You can combat some of this with the use of PED's which are dis allowed in sports like this one (MMA)..

Your mind still goes, but the body slows in other words especially in MMA.. Give me a guy 29 against a guy that's 39 (no PED's) with the same MMA skill and mind set and I'll take the younger guy 99 percent of the time..

Trust me when I say tristar is an elite gym. It truly is, but Shields trains at Caesar Gracie with the Diaz brothers and Gilbert Melendez, so its not like he trains with bums.

The bottom line is Ford can't wrestle, and thats all Shields does. IF you look at his wins in the UFC, the only reason he had a poor TD% is because he was fighting other amazing wrestlers (Lombard, Woodley, GSP). Getting Ford on the mat will be a piece of cake for Shields.

do not bet on ford, shields isnt on a huge decline, this is a bad match up on paper for ford. not much value even at +300, his takedown defense is horrible, he would be controlled and decision/sub'ed

warren on the other hand is a play, if he can get eduardo down every round of course but i believe he going to gas by round 3 and get late TKO'ed at some point.

i agree but jake is a known quantity and as good as cesar gracie gym is not known for quality gameplanning or tactics... jake himself is not liable to improve and is far more likely to drop off mentally and physically at this point. i think if ford can take the first round or at least keep it standing and get off at range without getting grappled every time, he can definitely win this. he'll have a very big speed advantage, he's strong and the whole camp he had will probably have been spent doing footwork, straight punches & low kicking... i doubt jake will be markedly stronger than ford in any position and i really don't see him getting takedowns except if ford lets jake get him flat against the cage for extended periods. that won't happen if ford is able to get off and move well, which he should be able to do, but he could choke given the stature of jake. also, jake is gonna be hungry as hell to get back in the ufc and i expect will go hard from the start for a submission... and if he faces adversity i don't see him wilting but instead being too reckless potentially if he starts to get on the bad end of the fight.

at the price i like ford because he has a slim but real chance of stopping jake at different times of the fight in different contexts, and also has the phsysical and technical tools as well as coaching to get him to a decision. under +400 tho i would be really cautious, if it slides but i dont think it will. should stay where it is around +450 last i checked

watched some tape on luke harris, think a small play on him is a decent one

sceptical about rama's ability to take damage from mehmen and uncomfortable that i cant find his last 2 fights (mehmen)... anyone got insights on those fights? on mehmen's recent form?

also there's huete and horodeswieisiki or whatever.... seen a bit of huete. seems a little open in his defense but good mental qualities and a big powerful young guy. i think he has a decent amount more technique than he's shown in fights so far, just needs to gain ring composure. if he can show more of that today i think hes a very solid play over chris h. chris shouldn't be able to maintain the same work rate at the same speed he used to and even then wasnt a power guy at all. huete's style is judge friendly and he's aggressive with his ring control. over +230 is a nice look i think

i dont think its a good call. warren's win was somewhat fortuitous, not a play i wouldve felt good about after the fight.

he basically won because of horrible, mindless, or even totally absent footwork from dantas, who was finish hunting after the first round and a half... on top of that he didnt get penalized for a horrible illegal strike, and was almost constantly cheating. im not mad personally, but it was fortuitous. biggest factor in the result as i see it was a combination of dantas' mental failings and warren's modest luck. i dont think there was much if anything strongly indicating that was going to be the case before the fight.
