It's one of the best anime of all time, easily, and anime generally isn't a good medium for suspense-thriller. Great series.

Somehow, the God Emperor survived the event which would come to be known as "Variance Night", scraping out a hard-fought victory over Skel the Brave, one of the realm's mightiest warriors.
