#107Interestingly Bilzerian said the same thing on his Stern interview. The pain of losing is far greater than the joy of winning.Originally posted by NunyaBidnessI'm very conservative with my bets. I hate losing money so much. I constantly underbet my bankroll. Losing hurts a million times worse than winning feels good. I've actually thought about seeing a sports psychologist to help me with it.Comment -

#108Comparing your wealth with others is a surefire way to drive yourself crazy unless your Bill Gates or Warren Buffett.
My businesses are at a pretty high level compared to most... but then again there's tens of thousands of BIGGER businesses. So when I compare myself to them I feel inferior. Same thing goes for net worth.
I think the ultimate game is to:
A) figure out your dream life (what kind of home, where... how many homes (if that floats your boat), vacation, etc...
B) figure out the cost of the dream life
C) Build enough of a net worth where the "investment gains" more than pay for B.
I think that's what Nunya is shooting for... as I am as well.Comment -

#109$25,000 a month coming in for the rest of my life would do it for me...
10 million invested wisely in rental properties, business, or maybe even the stock market should accomplish that goal..
I have not arrived at those numbers yet.... Still trying though..

#110If you only made $275,000 off of $10,000,000 you'd be investing incredibly poorly. At the risk free rate you should be making 300k a year.Originally posted by JIBBBY$25,000 a month coming in for the rest of my life would do it for me...

#112Its because the zero mark for feeling good/bad is your expectations, not actual zero. Coudn't agree more with your statement. If so, probably feels about as good winning all your bets as it does bad to break even, right? To fix it, just set your sights lower...but then your motivation suffers with it. Its all mathematical...Comment -

#113And then there's the beautiful threshold of pain concept. At a certain point you feel as bad as you possibly can, and losing more feels just as bad. Thats where people can do damage.Comment -

I don't think you should ever try to feel bad when losing, I think you should try to roll with the punches when they come, know that they do come, stay positive and live to play another day believing that the next will be more profitable..

#119Ten mill may seem like all the money in the world today, but what will it be worth in 25 - 30 years? What happens if you live 60 more years? Ten mill sounds like a great decade or two, but to truly feel financially free for the next five or more decades I'd shoot for a unit in personal equity. My caveat being, ten mill properly invested could be grown and managed to last...but then you end up employed to your money.Originally posted by marzwoodyIf you had 10mill your rich. sounds like you woudent be satisfied unless you had enough to live that bill gatez lifestyle.Comment -

#120Yep thats what i was thinking, make sure you still have money coming in, when it starts to dry up in many years. with the improvements in science its entirely possible they can find a way to reverse ageing cells, etc. you so you could be like 60 and have the body of a 20 year old. course this probably wont happen in our lifetimes, but might. it would probably be so expensive the 1% could only afford, then around a few hundred years later would be sold at 7/11's.Originally posted by KarmaphobiaTen mill may seem like all the money in the world today, but what will it be worth in 25 - 30 years? Don't worry though I'm not sick of the forum or any of you guys just yet.. I have taken some abuse in this forum section but who hasn't? FFF you were just cyber attacked from Bruce on another thread and you didn't even say anything bad. It happens...
Difference between me and Gabe - I don't claim to win a million bets and then lose consistently after... I don't roll like that... I'm a bit more consistent with my win bets and calls... More show and go with Jibbby, not so much show and slow...
If I started losing consistently I probably would stop posting on this forum and concentrate more on picking the winners.. I HATE LOSING!!!! Competitive like that.... Perhaps that's what Gabe did????Comment -
