    Masvidal vs Khabilov
I'm assuming some of you rewatched this recently; did any of you score it for Khabilov? That decision was f-cking terrible, it was clearly 29-28 Masvidal, and I say that having scored it 30-27 Khabilov (as the judges did) when I first watched it. He landed the harder, cleaner shots and punished Khabilov's takedown attempts for the entirety of round one, and he was more effective in literally every area in round two; he outstruck Khabilov badly, outgrappled him badly, and while Khabilov had marginally more headstrikes by my count, he was blown away in terms of body shots and leg kicks, on top of Masvidal opening up on him with elbows on the ground after taking Khabilov down in the only effective grappling exchange of the round.

I'm surprised that so many people agree with the decision. In retrospect, I think it was terrible.

If I recall correctly the third round was the only one Khabilov won convincingly and off course it was the only round given to Masvidal.

Any other score but 10-9 Khabilov for round three would be inept. He knocked Masvidal down with a spinning hook kick early in the round (though was not close to finishing, no argument for a 10-8), and controlled Masvidal in the scrambles while just about outstriking him for the rest of the round.

WOW... I give credit where credit is due considering I remember that fight clearly and telling you masvidal won. Props on eating crow, most people's ego get in the way of logic.

Easy to mis-score a fight when you're watching it live, honestly. I try not to argue too much about my immediate opinions on fights unless I think that they're unbelievably obvious (Henderson vs Thomson), because I know that my opinion could easily change on a rewatch. It's not necessarily a concious bias, it's just easy to focus on one aspect of the fight and forget proper scoring because of how impressive someone looks, or mis-judging how pivotal a strike is. If I haven't scored a fight with my 'capping goggles on, I probably haven't given it enough attention to be certain about it; except, again, in cases like Bendo/Punk, where I knew my opinion would not change even upon rewatch.

rounds 1 and 2 were very close.

khabilov did land some missiles early in rd1, which might be enough to give him the round.

Yup. Close fight. I can argue either way. The reason why no one argued the dec. is that the first 2 rds. were close & Khabilov clearly took rd. 3. That spinning back kick was beautiful.

I bet on khabilov that fight and remember feeling very thankful for getting that decision. Not to say he didn't deserve it, but it was that close.
