Most people who brag about their IQ on the internet do so because they took one of those random tests where everybody gets at least 125 and has very little to do with an actual proctored IQ test.

Pretty sure I gave gabe 10-1 on doing heads up IQ tests with me, but he declined. I believe he was claiming 178 or something at the time.

And I didn't randomly brag about my IQ either. Ron mentioned correlation between good gamblers and high IQs, so I mentioned mine to back up his theory.

I've always considered myself a pretty intelligent person, but I've never had any interest in learning my IQ. I took a test when I was fourteen and I was pleased with the result, but since then, I've thought less and less of IQ tests. There's really no measure of any sort of practical intelligence, which is the only intelligence that should matter to any of us. IQ isn't really a consistent measure of much of anything.

That's not true. I've typed all sorts of random shit in place of words before. I accidentally typed "excited" instead of "exited" earlier today because I was watching a video whilst typing and my mind strayed.

Type it out though, that makes more sense because your fingers go e-x-c(which is right next to x)-i-t-e-d, same pattern understandable typo.
F-o-r-m-e-r-l-y compared to f-o-r-m-a-l-l-y, you wouldn't accidentally mix up words where one has a double letter and the other doesn't AND you're required to make totally different patterns with your fingers whether you touch-type or whatever.

It's not a physical movement, it's a mental slip. There's a difference between a typo and a mental lapse. I understand what you're saying, though.

OK, so maybe my mind strayed and because the words both SOUND and LOOK similar, it subconsciously got them mixed up. You know, how people constantly mix up "your" and you're" or "their" and "they're".

While I share your skepticism about the legitimacy of IQ, someone who is in the 0.01% of the world in terms of IQ, wouldn't make a mental lapse like that. Would I buy that Fury is smart? Of course. He's a well-written person and he's an apparently on his way to be successful entrepreneur.

I am arguably an intelligent guy, with a MENSA eligible IQ. But, I am also one of the most absent-minded people I've ever met. I once traded a guy $2,000 in green chips for a $1,000 chip. It was 10 minutes before I realized what I had done. I miss my exits on the highway all the time, etc.

1/50 have MENSA eligible IQ's. 1/1000 have IQ's in the range Luca is talking (depending on the actual test he took.) Maybe people are absent minded but geniuses, in my opinion, wouldn't mistake formally and formerly in their head because they look and sound similar. Not with their meanings being so drastically different.

EDIT: For a second I considered dyslexia, but a dyslexic person wouldn't have scored a 140 on an IQ test.

I think you're unbelievably off here. You seem to have some classic, outdated view of "genius" as someone who can mentally do no wrong and can solve a Rubik's cube by laughing at it.

Like I said, I don't think it's a particularly easy mistake to make, and I don't have a 146 IQ. Maybe it's a different type of thinking but I just can't see it.
