This came as a shock to me today because I didn't know he was ill.

Sparred at the rec center in 1980 and 1981. He was a tough trainer and a good man. Helped a lot of us kids stay half way straight.

There should be a 100 posts here. Steward represented the KRONK Gym and fighters like Thomas Hitman Hearns. He was a comentator recently and looked kind of sick looking (in my opinion)--one word--LEGEND

I didn't know he was ill either? Man, I loved listening to his commentary on HBO. He was so knowledgeable it was interesting listening to his take. He'll be surely missed.

Dam, Hard to believe him and Bert Sugar are gone. Those guys were incredible historians for the sport.

That basement was so fukkin full of asbestos and dust it makes me wonder. I wonder what got him.

If you went rounds in that basement your fukkin lungs burned.

Seemed like a heck of a guy.

I'll never forget passing him, Don King, and Lennox Lewis in an AC casino. King and Lewis were complete dicks but he was as nice as could be
