So after he starts in the outfield 5 times Yahoo will add OF to the possible positions he can play? As for utility, then we can have one Utility player starting in every lineup which would give you 8 position players, a pitcher and the Utility player. That way you could have some fat ass designated hitter in your lineup. Does that sound right?
Yes, the Utility player counts toward your stats each day.
Yes, Yahoo should add the OF to the player if he has started , what Pres says, 5 days at the position.

Latest trade of Mike Maroth and Miguel Batista for Brad Lidge:
I feel that this is incredibly lopsided as Batista is NOT a closer...but just a relief pitcher. Maroth and a subpar reliever is nowhere near the quality of Lidge.
Sorry but Portland is getting extremely hosed in this deal.

Maroth is a starter, and I think Batista is going to be in the Diamondbacks rotation this year.
But I agree, they are nowhere near the value of Lidge. Lidge is, if not the best, one of the best closers.

I gotta agree with you.
Batista as a 4th or 5th man in a rotation is waiver-wire quality and Maroth, while promising, is nowhere near the dominant force that Lidge is.
Two-for-One or not, it's too lopsided, IMO.

DATE: 31 March 2006 The Jackass send SP M.Maroth and SP M.Batista to Portland Hamsters for RP B.Lidge.
TRADE REJECTED ... had note from Portland that he clicked the wrong button and he asked me to reject the trade. That was done this morning.
In the future guys, if you don't think a trade is fair, then reject it at the Yahoo! site. Posting in here that you don't like a deal won't get it rejected.

Maroth is is young starting pitcher that could have a break out year and Batista is the 3rd starter for Arizona. Check your facts my friend. Point of the deal is Portland has a lot of saves left on his roster and he needs starters of which I have a couple more than I really need. Where were you when I was getting Nomar shoved in my face...I suppose you thought Nomar and Chipper for Reyes would have been a great deal.

Looker...we are playing FANTASY ball...not trying to win a pennent. I want to compete in the saves catagory and Portland has a shitty starting pitching staff. This trade would have worked well for both of us over the long haul. You guys are missing the point.

Thank you for answering my question before I asked it. Couldn't figure out why the commisioner would veto a trade that had not been agreed to in the first place. Thank you for disclosing the backdoor manuvering of one of our weaker owners. We still on for lunch?

what are you talking about? I don't even have Nomar...nor do I know what you are talking about in the nomar/chipper for reyes deal. Maybe you need to check your facts?
Batista sucks as a starter. end of discussion.

Well yes we are trying to win. And when I see a terrible trade like that, I will speak up. No way should anyone complete a trade that lopsided. Maroth plays for the Tigers, and Batista for the Diamondbacks. Not the strongest teams, and possible high era's and whips. Not to mention they win have a hard time getting the wins on those teams.

You should look at what Portland has in the way of starting pitching and what he has in the way of closers. He could loose Lidge or Nathan and still be competitive in the saves category but now he would have two starters, one of them with great potential and the other that will see a lot of action both as a starter and a reliever. I'm not making the case for my two pitchers combined equal one Lidge. It's about what he needs and about what I need to win the FANTASY league.

I guess you just started monitoring trade offers. I was offered Chipper and Nomar for Jose Reyes of NYM and I turned it down. Since your passing judgement on trade offers what's you opinion on that deal.

Yes that is true, but is needs to be fair for the whole league. Lopsided trades in talent will 95% of the time get bad votes.
Its like your dumping your lower rated starters to get the best closer from Portland. You will use Lidge, he would probably not use Maroth and Bastista much.
Looking at Portland's pitching staff, he will not need no help there. He has possibly one of the best staffs in our league.

ofcourse I'm going to pass judgement on trades...I want deals to be fair. : )
It would take more than Chipper and Nomar to get Reyes however Chipper Jones is one of the top 3rdbaseman(scare position) and Nomar although risky qualifies at SS
...so I wouldn't protest the trade but I'd rather be on the Reyes side.

It's not lopsided when the trade provides balance on both teams. If that trade goes through it does not give me dominance in the saves catagory plus he has Nathan who had one less save than Lidge. He could always counter offer...obviously I want and need a reliever and he has others on his roster that he could work into a deal. I sent the Killahs a feeler just after the draft regarding Dempster. I could have done better deal for him than what he did with the Dodgers.

I wish Nomar the best but he does look washed up and I have always been a big Chipper fan but he may be on the down hill side of his career. Reyes is young, fast and should provide rack up plenty of SB and runs scored. Would have liked to have had Chipper but I had not need for Nomar and couldn't see anybody taking him off my hands once I had him.

The only reason the trade went through in the first place was because the sheer idiocy of the offer temporarily impaired my motor skills, causing me to misclick.
I apologize for the error. It's nice to know that the owners in the league would have had the good sense to veto it anyway had I been suffering from Maroth Mania.

Ooooooh, you got me, buddy. I REALLY wanted to trade the premier closer in the game for two scrubs. Then I received an offer to trade him for the rights to Bob Hamelin which I couldn't pass up so I emailed the commish to back out.

Alamo, you really thought that was fair? 2 mediocre starters, whose stats you could find comparable replacements for on the waiver wire, for the most dominant closer over the last 3 years?
Still, clicking the right button is the owner's responsibility. The trade should still have to receive the right amount of vetoes, IMO.

I just made the offer, I don't have to make fair or good offers. If the other owner doesn't like it he rejects it. I am pleased that you find the way the "clicking" issue was handled appears a little odd.

The committee has been formed and we met this morning. The Ghost of Bob Halderman spoke first. "Commissioner Bee, I was President Nixon's son-of-a-bitch and did his dirty work without any questions or hesitation. I will act in the same capacity for you."
Next I heard from G. Gordon Liddy. "Hey fat boy! You want I should have someone snuffed out?" My answer was a firm, but polite, "No."
Finally I conferred with counsel, John Dean, and he advised that speaking to ghosts and fascist radio hosts was probably not best for my image. So I just stuck with my original decision, and that was to honor the request of the Portland Hamsters and trust in their statement that they had indeed erred in 'misclicking' the accept button. Thus, precedence has been set, that being that any team which contacts me PROMPTLY after 'misclicking,' as Portland did in this instance, will be treated the same.
So let it be written, so let it be done

On behalf of The Jackass organization and it's fans I want to thank you and the committee for all your hard work on this matter. I know it must have been very difficult for you to form this committe on such short notice. The Jackass accepts the findings of the committee and as far as we are concerned this is a dead issue (like some of the members of your committee).
