    Cubs at Nationals
Ryan Dempster (3-0, 3.0 era in 2008) will be pitching against Odalis Perez (0-3, 3.38 era in 2008) this friday night. The cubs are playing a schedule where they are playing 14 games in 14 days starting April 15 and continuing til April 27. The cubs play the rockies on Wed and Thurs and than play at Washington Friday night. I am fading out Dempster for a loss this friday as I feel Perez is due for a win. The Nationals have lost 4 straight starts for Perez after winning his first start. Perez does not have bad numbers. It has been the Nationals offense that has been unproductive (1 run in last 2 starts for Perez). I could not bet on Dempster to go to 4-0. I also feel that relievers turned starters can be vulnerable. On Sunday, Looper, (3-0) a reliever turned starter was going for his 4th victory against the giants. The giants hammered Looper 8-2. I feel this game on Friday has similarities to the game the Giants played Sunday at St Louis. All I am saying is that relievers do get roughed up time to time. I am thinking that the Cubs are going to be favorites (-135). The cubs have not fared well against left handers and Perez is a quality left handed starter. The cubs are going to be in a tough predicatment this week as they play at Colorado on wed and thurs this week and Friday at Washington DC. Lets talk more about this game on Thur night and Friday morning.

I am still fading Dempster for a loss even though Dempster is 6-0 lifetime vs the nationals/expos. The line for this game is Cubs -115/Nationals -105. I was hoping for some plus action for the nationals. Left handers have had success against the cubs and left hander Odalis Perez (3-1 in 4 starts, 3.54 era, .93whip, .208 BAA) has good numbers vs the cubs.

I may be fading the Nats in a parlay in this spot.

Most of the action is coming in on the cubs and that may be good news for Nationals backers. The line on betus is Cubs -135. Dempster has very good numbers agaisnt the nationals and Perez has very good numbers against the cubs. The nationals have had success against the cubs bullpen. I get the feeling this game is going to be decided by the bullpens.

I am on the nationals. Lou Pienella does not make wise decisions just like against the dbacks in the playoffs. I think he makes a bonehead move and they lose. Maybe if they had someone else as a manager. Feel like that this may be a trap play by making the cubs a slight favorite. The line opened up at cubs -115 and now is -135. I have seen this before where the line moves on the slight favorite. This line probably will jump up to cubs -145 (artificial movement) by the moring. Oddsmakers overreact to trap cubs backers and adjust the line overnight. I am surprised that the line is not the cubs -145 as Dempster is 3-0 and the cubs are 15-7 on the year and Perez is 1-3 and the nationals are 7-16. Seems like the oddsmakers themselves like the nationals in this game.

Good call on this game tonight. When that final home-run cleared the fence, all I could think was that you had to be one sharp mofo to pick the Nats tonite.
