#2859-21-10 Tuesday Plays
TB – FF, ML
BOS – FF ½, ML, RL ½
TOR – ML ½, RL
SF – FF, ML, RL
COLO – FF ½, ML, RL ½
TB
Hughes is a little stretched out going thru his first big league season as a starter.
Shields outpitched Hughes last Wednesday at TB and we look for him to do it again.
BOS
Bucholz had his good FB back in his last outing.
Buch 3-0 with a 0.41 ERA in his last 3 vs O’s – also had his no-hitter vs O’s in ’07.
Bergeson 1-2 with a 4.5 ERA in 3 tries vs BOS on the year.
TOR
French 4-5 on the year with a 4.02 ERA – but 1-4 with a 5.46 in 5 road starts.
SEA has L’s in last 4 on road and in 9/L11.
Granted Rzep… has been awful – but tonight he faces the weakest lineup in basball.
Bautista going for #50 – Aaron Hill probably back in Jays L/U tonight as well.
SF
Zambrano is always a wild card – but I’m all SF in this one.
Cain is on top of his game - Zambrano has been pitching well also – but one big difference:
Cain is a stone cold pro – at his best in big games – Zambrano exactly the opposite.
The only way I’d feel better about SF in this game is if it was really big for the Cubs as well.
Bochy is a heady mgr – SF lineup figures to have a good approach to Zambrano here.
Z has great stuff but control issues – a K’s/BB’s ratio short of 2.
Expect Giants hitters to work the count on Z - mess with his weak mind here.
Soto out of lineup – will not be catching Z tonight – Z already has his excuse to lose.
Ty Colvin also gone for season.
COLO
Rocks 13-3 in last 16 overall - could have been better if closer Street was in form.
Lefty De La Rosa looking for 4th straight W overall and 5th straight over D-Backs.
AZ off a 2-8 road trip - - L’s in 12 of L15 overall – 6-9 vs COLO on the year.
AZ really dragged home – swept by MLB’s worst team in PITT – blew last one for Hudson.
Tulo’s September 2/3 the way to one of the most productive months in MLB history.Comment -

#286Tuesday Results
We had action on 5 games Tuesday - 3 of the games were net losers (TB, BOS, COLO).
Plays go 4-8-1 and we drop -9.16 Units on the day.
We're once again at virtual dead even on the 2nd half - after almost 1,000 plays.
I have even called my esteemed baseball cappin' buddy, Sisyphus, for possible words of wisdom on breaking out of all this - but he tells me that his 2nd half struggle has mirrored our own. He is fairly certain, however, that it can't go on forever.

#289Wednesday Results
An ugly Wednesday pulls us back under water for the 2nd half as 25 plays across 11 games go 9-15-1 for a net loss of -8.55 Units on the day.
The biggest, toughest loss on Wednesday was once again the chalky Colorado Rockies – this time with their ace out there with 19 W's - blowing an early 4 run lead against the lowly D-Backs in what was a very important game both for them and for us.
On the night we lost 6 decisions by a single run.

#292Thursday Results
We had action on 9 games on Thursday - 5 were profitable - but the 4 that lost money were unfortunately bet a little more heavily with more plays.
The early game ½ plays went well with STL sweeping both plays and HOU splitting positive.
When SF, TB and KC came thru in the night games we were in great shape heading into the late contests – only needing 1 winning play in the remaining 9 plays across 3 games to lock up a winning day. But the late games were a bloodbath - COLO, SD and TEX going 0-9 on plays.

After STL swept 3 plays in the early game picking up +4 Units – 19 plays across 8 night games go 10-8-1 netting another 3.16 U as HOU, SF, LAD, TOR, and TB came thru for +15.60 U and losers ATL, NYY and KC drop -12.44 U.
22 plays on the day go 13-8-1 overall for a net gain of +7.16 Units.
Coming into the final games of the regular season - we remain plus on the year overall (+14.92 U) but still officially down a hair (-2.51 U) for the 2nd half.

#300Saturday Results
Some of our worst days this 2nd half have come on Saturdays - and we can add one more to the list.
The day started with an ugly loss (3 plays) by STL in Chicago.
It ended with an extra inning walk-off double that took our money in Denver.
The action in the 10 games in between was not a hell of a lot better.
Plays go 7-16-3 overall for a loss of -13.41 Units on the day.

#306Tuesday Results
I wish I could say we're surging at the finish - but it's starting to look like our post season action will not be funded by 2nd half profits - that we'll be firing some of our own money in October this year. We will have to get the playoffs right to have a successful 2010.
We had action on 7 games Tuesday - only 3 were profitable - of the 4 losers, 3 were chalks (STL, SD, COLO).

A double digit winning day could not have come at a better time.
Our 12 plays across 4 games on Wednesday go 9-2-1 for a pickup of +11.34 Units overall.
TOR, SD and SF swept all plays (+17.08 Units). The only Wednesday loser was TB (-5.74 Units).
The 2nd half is not over yet – plus we remain in the green on the year.

#315You're right
As you said - same way with the Rocks - another dead team walking - pretty sad. COLO is probably the most enigmatic team in MLB. They do so many great things at times - mainly at home - and then they absolutely disappear just when you think they have it together. If you define professionalism in terms of steadineness and consistency - not getting too high or too low - then something is really missing with the Rocks. They play more like an amateur team. I know you like Tracy - but it's the manager's responsibility to keep the effort, and hopefully the performance, more steady.Comment
