What is not the question is the man obviously missed the call. I can't blame a man for being wrong. Nobody is perfect but what is troubling for me is why? And what I mean by that is this... This is a historic event and the last out of the game for me as an umpire that baserunner would have had to been decidely safe... It would have been unquestionable for me to call him safe... In that instance if the baserunner is even near the bag I am calling him out. Traditionally a tie goes to the runner but I am saying I would have called that guy out unless both of his feet had been on the chalk past the first base line.
The dude not only missed a no-hitter but a perfect freaking game. There are only like 19 perfect games in the history of baseball. True there has been a couple already this year but it is something that might not been seen for another few years or so.
It's just unfathomable to me he missed the call...Not the mistake or missed call because we all have screwed up in life but the fact that his mindset was not right for the situation is what is troubling for me.
