I expect that this price will be bet up so I have already gotten on it. The D rays are only -185 tommorow against the Astros. The price should be abd probably will be much higher.
The Devil Rays have the best record in baseball and start David Price who is one of the best pitchers in baseball thus farthis year.
Price is 6-1 this season with a 1.81 ERA. He has 8 starts and has gone over 54 total innings. That brings him to an average of almost 7 innings per start. He has given up only 11 earned runs in 54.2 innings pitched, and that is pitching against the best division in baseball. The Yankees, Red Sox, and Blue Jays all bring much more potent offenses than the Astros will be able to muster.
The Astros start perhaps their worst pitcher. Bud Norris goes for them and he has been a train wreck all season. Norris is 2-5 with a 6.75 ERA. He has 8 starts for a total of 38 innings pitched. That comes out to an average of less than 5 innings per start which is horrible. I would expect he wont even see 5 innings tommorow as the Devil Rays have a very good offense and I expect they will give Norris hell all day long.
In this game it looks like everything and I domean every thing favors the Devil Rays. However, the price is reasonably low I would suppose because the Astros are the home team here. I dont buy into "home field advantage: too much in baseball, so I am not too worried that the game is being played in Houston.
The Devil Rays come into this game 30-12 and no small reason for their success is their abaility to score runs. This offense leads off with Bartlett who is only hitting .250 this season. But then comes the heart of the order. Crawford, Zobrist, and Longoria bat 2-3-4 and they all hit over .300. Longoria in fact is in the clean up spot and is hitting .327 which is amazing for a power hitter and the #4 hitter.
The Devil Rays offense may look like it is weak at the bottom with everyone only hitting around .250, but I think even the bottom of the lineup will make Bud Norris look like Bud Bundy ( No offense Grandmaster B ). Just as great pitchers shut down great hitters, crappy pitchers get shelled even by crappy hitters.
The Astros on the other hand dont have a single batter above the .300 mark with Blum falling under .300 today. And in fact, they have only 3 guys batting above .240. That would be Blum, Bourn, and Keppinger. This Astros offense looks like the type of offense that price with hi 1.81 ERA will shut down easily.
Im not going to sweat the Fact that Price has to bat tommorow, which he isnt used to. That will probably be a free out for Norris, but still I dont think it will help him much.
Here is a game that is just screaming for a -250 or -300 line, but the price is only -185 likely because the Devil rays are on the road. so waht, the Devil Rays are clearly the better team and have the far better pitcher. The -185 is a steal and it probably wont be there for the taking long. Wouldnt be surprised to see this well over -200 by game time.
Good luck.
