Did you guys hear about this one yet.

Talk about one ass backwards organization we have in Baltimore. First they promote there bullpen coach to manager of the club, and then they fire Mazzone just hours ago.

You're a funny guy, Dan. I can't for the life of me think of one coaching or front office move made in the majors in the last two seasons that you didn't think was the wrong move.

Mazzone only came there to be with his buddy Perlozzo. They probably asked him to resign, take a portion of whatever they owed him, and he told Angelos to stick it and forced them to fire him so he could collect it all.

Leo did want to be with his boyhood friend but at least as much the fact that the Braves wouldn't give him a big fat raise when his contract was up.

Rocking Leo is a helluva pitching coach, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

With all the problems the O's have, losing Leo barely makes the medal stand!

Dan, I know I am going to take crap here for being an Oriole fan, but if there ever was an incompetent organization in MLB, it is here in Baltimore.

Angelos took an organization with history, tradition, strong minor league roots and a philosophy of having strong pitching and defense to win baseball games, and burned the whole thing down in less than 5 years.

People here know he is not interested in winning as long as the cable deal he setup with the Nats (MASN what a joke, the commentary staff - Dempsey, Palmer, Thorne...All sound like Angelos butt kissers) makes him a ton of money regardless if the Orioles win. The Orioles are doomed to lose as long as Angelos is there, and Angelos is not going anywhere.

Of course Oriole fans are screaming for Angelos to step down, but that will only make him more determined to stick it his fan base even more. Silly and stupid issues - such as Angelos never acknowledging the 1966 World Series Team and refusing to put "Baltimore" on the away jerseys - reflect how Angelos could care less about old-time Orioles fans and their storied tradition.

Why he hired Trembly as the manager is also a puzzle. This team needs a manager to kick their sorry behinds. After Trembly's interim lable was removed, the team played like crap again (with a few exceptions.)

Fans in Baltimore are looking at McPhail to resurrect the O's, but the loss of Mazzone is nothing to signal they are going in that direction.

Forgive the rant, and return to the playoff discussion.

You know Willie, I think you are right on with that statement.

Orioles had it going on in first half of 2005 season, up until late June they were playing .600 ball, 2nd best record in baseball (behind White Sox), 4 games ahead of Red Sox (Yankees even further behind), looked like one of the biggest turn-arounds ever in baseball, and then, just like that....

Sammy Sosa got hurt, Palmiero turned out to be a liar, Steve Kline was a huge bust and a clubhouse pain in the ass, and the rest of that club was so injury prone - I think they played under .300 ball from the all-star break on. A real Jekyll and Hyde team in 2005. Been a nightmare there since.

I expect Leo Mazzone to be back coaching the Braves pitching staff next season.
