The Ace is the 1st pitcher in the pitching rotation. So for the A's, it's Trevor Cahill. During the middle of the season, the pitching rotation gets moved around due to adding a new starter or giving someone a day off.

In San Diego, John Garland is the Ace, eventhough Mat Latos holds the best ERA, the Padres try a lot to save him from pitching too many innings in a season so that he won't blow his arm. I'm sure next year Latos will be the Ace or the 2nd pitcher in the rotation.
