the reds have scored 13 runs in their last 7 games and are hitting .204 as a team..there hottest hitter is joey votto who is left handed and i dont like him against a tough lefty in gio gonzalez...leake and gonzalez both struggled in their last 2 starts but i gotta give the advantage in this game to the hometeam...these teams are very similar in that they pitch well but cant hit...i dont understand the love for the reds in this one...somebody help me out here

i think it is because they were such a moneymaker for people in the 1st half of the season. IMO they're finally coming back down to earth and are on a skid.I still like the A's tomorrow at home they're strong and the Reds who are 1-4 in their last 5

Yo MT, this Is what I got for the As/Reds game. The reds haven't scored more than 3 runs in the past 8 games, besides scoring 7 against the dodgers. Leake has been lit up the past 2 games, both at home, but he's been pretty solid in his last 3 road starts. Gio has also been lit up his last 2 starts, but otherwise pretty solid on the road and at home. Although the As haven't been knocking the cover off the ball recently, they have put up some runs against some really good pitching. Without over analyzing, I like he As to come away with a win here. I give the edge to them due to being at home and the reds offense being a blackhole.
A's win 5-4. This is my "expert analysis" on this game MT. BOL bud, I'll be on them as well. Just don't know how much.

AN EXTREME UNDER UMPIRE
I worried a couple of years ago that talking too much about my 'umpire'strategy for totals would take away my edge. Once the market knows about a key indicator, they tend to adjust accordingly.
*Big bettors step in and pound the edge.
*Oddsmakers adjust their lines quickly based on the action.
*Oddsmakers eventually figure out WHY the big bettors were hitting something hard, then adjust with their openers.
*An edge that made you a lot of money over the years has suddenly disappeared.
Though I like trying to teach you how to live and handicap like a HIGH ROLLER, there are still many edges I stay quiet about. I owe it to myself and everyone dependent on my income to keep some secrets. I'm sure you can understand.
For awhile, John Hirschbeck was a secret. He was an UNDER MACHINE behind the plate. It's not that every single game he called went Under. But, you were definitely GETTING THE BEST OF IT over the long haul by expecting low scoring games with he or his brother. His brother no longer calls games. A few years ago, it seemed like everyone in Vegas had heard about Hirschbeck and was betting his games. I assumed the party was over.
Last season, Hirschbeck called 23 games, and they went 6-17 to the Under. This year he's 3-6 to the Under, including the Milwaukee/LA Angels game this past Wednesday afternoon. That's 9-23 to the Under his last 32 games...and that's well after the cat was out of the bag!
Hirschbeck was such an extreme Under umpire that the market is still allowing you to profit from his tendencies.
How could this be?
*There's still some skepticism about the role umpires play in totals, which is something I've been able to exploit for decades.
*Many bettors focus on pitchers, and they won't bet an Under with mediocre or worse pitchers no matter who the umpire is. It's not like people see a pitching matchup like Narveson/Pineiro in the newspaper or on the big board and automatically think 'Under.'This helps keep the lines in check.
*Many of the computer math model guys don't use umpires, so they bet right back at a line that's been adjusted for an umpire. Let's say a total would have been 8.5 with a normal umpire, but is 8 with Hirschbeck behind the plate. The computer nerds will bet Over 8, and often drive the line back up to where I'm getting full value anyway. Thanks guys!
*I'm still a big bettor, but the overall market is much bigger than it used to be. Action from me and like minded handicappers has less of an impact on how lines move than it used to. There's room for us to GET THE BEST OF IT with our umpire knowledge.
I'm telling you this because John Hirschbeck is going to be somewhere this weekend. Or, if he's on vacation, he'll be back somewhere soon. Part of your handicapping process early in the week and on every Friday should be FINDING HIRSCHBECK!
You won't win every Under bet. You'll win more than you lose based on an extended past history. That's what it's all about.
